I personally am very pleased with the aggressiveness of the design - even more so than with the new Santa Fe.

Yeah, me too. They probably will on both EN and CM -- just not initially. Hyundai has announced that the former will come to the market with a 3.8-liter Lambda V6 attached to a six-speed Shiftronic transmission, but they haven't confirmed anything on the Santa Fe just yet. We'll know for sure within the next three months, though.

the "canvas bag" on the back of those posted images...it adds some class to an otherwise droll vehicle...on the production models, will the canvas be offered in colors to match the various paint colors, or is it the Korean Henry Ford version of "any color you want so long as it is black."...

Couldn't resist, ya know...

LOL!

Here are more shots of the Santa Fe CM... but alas, no canvas this time -- just some plastic taped on:

When in 2006 is the 2007 Santa Fe going to be released? I like the look and design of it. Does anyone think it resembles an Infiniti FX35? Please keep us informed of any news about the 2007!

Thanks!

"When in 2006 is the 2007 Santa Fe going to be released?"

The vehicle will be on sale in the US beginning in the second quarter of 2006 -- trial production is already underway at the Alabama plant. According to one source, the vehicle will debut in Korea on Friday, the 11th of November, so we should be getting some really good stuff in the next three weeks. The official US debut (at NAIAS) is only about 2.5 months away.

I think it really does in some respects. Those that have seen the CM in person typically comment on how surprisingly sporty the vehicle appears -- specifically, how it resembles the FX!

Please keep us informed of any news about the 2007!

Well, let's see... how 'bout some preliminary exterior specifications?
Length: 4675 mm (184.1 in)
Width: 1890 mm (74.4 in)
Height: 1725 mm (67.9 in)
Wheelbase: 2700 mm (106.3 in)

So basically, with the exception of 2.5 inches in width, it has a footprint about the same size as a Toyota Highlander. It will undoubtedly be a bit roomier, however.

Apparently the US release date has been pushed back again -- to the third quarter this time:
ShowTalk 2006 - NAIAS

So my revised reply is:
Home-market Release: November 11, 2005
Auto Show Debut: January 8-10, 2006
US Release: Summer 2006.

Honestly, though, there have been so many conflicting reports coming out of the company (even from the same individuals!), I take even this newest information with a grain of salt. This is definitely a "wait-and-see" sort of thing. But while it's a bit irritating for some, it's actually a super-good thing in the end for the consumer: nearly all of Hyundai's release postponements have been quality-control related. And besides, it's their most important vehicle -- you can't blame 'em for wanting to get it juuuust right.

Hmm... now I'm wondering if it has a little something to do with this.

"This" makes me wonder about the ability of Hyundai's marketeers. I find it hard to believe the minivan market has swung twice in so short a time as to, first, make Hyundai drop the Entourage, then a few months later bring it back. Haven't they noticed the minivan market is in decline? Also the market for large SUVs. But Hyundai is going to introduce one of each in the next few months. If I were them, I'd focus more on getting the hybrid Accent out, and also the new Elantra, since buyers now want more fuel-efficient cars and the current Elantra is outclassed in fuel economy and in other ways by competitors like Toyota, Honda, and Mazda.
