The Chinese market does have a Santa Fe on sale, and it's called the Santa Fe by Hyundai.
This is terrible. Shame on the Chinese company. I believe legal action has been discussed but not sure what the outcome of the final determination.

Hello: I have purchased a 2007 Santa Fe Limited FWD and am very pleased with the vehicle. There has been no issues other than a small carpet problem on the passenger side and a squeaky passenger seat.
You will absolutely love this vehicle. Quiet, fun to drive and pretty good gas mileage.
The RAV4 is too small and the CRv is difficult for entry and exit. Do a test drive of the RAV4 and it is still old school compared to the Santa Fe,

If 15 months and 16,000 miles counts as a long history, then I will try to help. My wife and I love our 2007 Santa Fe. We had a 2004 RAV that we gave to our daughter, but I never really liked it and didn't even consider the new RAV, I just don't like how it looks. As for the CRV, we did test drive one. For around town, it's a solid car. But we wanted something for taking long trips. On the highway, the CRV was awful, very harsh ride. The Santa Fe is just so smooth. What also bugged me about the CRV is that Honda nickel and dimes you for everything - roof rack is extra, on and on. The Santa Fe came with everything we wanted (we got the SE because my wife doesn't like leather seats, but we did get one with heated seats and sunroof). CRV was just a bit small for me (I'm 6'3). The Santa Fe is very roomy, even in the back, and feels like a much bigger car, but it has a real tight turning radius and is very easy to handle. One thing about the CRV that I couldn't stand was the tin can for a radio. The stock radio on the Santa Fe with XM sounds great to me. So far the Santa Fe has been very reliable, although I did have one problem with a bad brake switch that the dealer replaced. All 3 are good choices, but it just comes down to what you like the best.

I don't know about the RAV4 but isn't the CRV 4-cyl engine only? I remember testing a CRV before buying my '07 Santa Fe Limited and putting the pedal down on the highway and having nothing there.
I pull a 3,000lbs pop-up camper with ease with my Santa Fe that I could never pull with the CRV. I love my Santa Fe and the way it drives. I'm very glad I didn't get the honda.

Mine is a 2008 LTD AWD 5 seater with 7K miles. Don't know if that's long enough for your criteria. Anyway, it runs great, averages 23 MPG (mostly highway in Connecticut), sun roof does not leak (luckily), seat leather seems to be well fitted. The 5 seat version has a sizable storage well behind the rear seats, which is handy. Highway ride is very comfortable but a little bouncy on secondary roads. One thing about the LTD is that it has auto-climate control. Whenever I change vent fan speed or air direction or temperature, the A/C seems to engage, which has a minor effect on MPG. I also looked at the Rav4, CR-V, Highlander and Veracruz before settling on the SF. I didn't like to spare tire arrangement on the Rav4; the CR-V seemed a little small and buzzy; the Highlander was expensive compared to the Verzcruz; and the Veracruz LTD would have been a little too much vehicle, although the Black Saddle Leather interior is really nice. I'm happy with the SF and have not regretted the choice.

check engine light and recent oil change/service

I bought my first brand new car, the Santa Fe and love it. Everyone who gets in it thinks it's beautiful. As for performance, it runs smoothly and brakes well. The build quality seems pretty good with the exception of a few things.
First, after I just completed my 10,000 mile service the check engine light came on. I took it immediately to the dealer and was told that after they ran the computer diagnostic, low gas was the problem. This doesn't make sense because I brought the car in with 50+ miles range left to drive and the low level light was not on. Although the check engine computer registered the engine misfiring, it seems they are not diving into the problem.
I have a problem with the service guy telling me that the gas was too low and that is the resulting firing problem. If that were the case, how come everytime the low level light goes on that the check engine light doesn't come on? I think a more detailed diagnostic is in order but the service manager seems to think that I am some dumb girl that just ran out of gas. But what explains that fact that the low level gas light indicator was not on and the estimated range of 50+ miles readout when I brought the car in?? By the way, my boyfriend was driving my car and he did run out of gas...no check engine light came on then, so what gives?

Timing to change air filter and interior cabin climate control filter

I have a 2007 Sante Fe Limited that I purchased in September, 2007., and I live in the New York city area. Since I've had the vehicle close to a year, I'm planning to change the air filter and interior cabin climate control filter soon. However, when I checked the Hyundai maintenance log booklet, it said that the first air filter change is due after 2 years, and the climate control filter doesn't need to be changed but rather inspected after 2 years. Please advise your thoughts on this, and also a source for buying a reasonable priced air filter as it is upwards of $50 online. Also, my dealership recommends changing oil every 5,000 miles, but I wonder what other drives think is the right increment. Thanks!
