Thunderhill is SCCA operated and they provide a Street School for drivers of all types of vehicles and I've seen everything from Ferrari's and Corvette's to Mini-Vans. And yes, the lady in the Mini- Van did pass a few folks before the end of the day. Marque specific events are common for Porsche, BMW, Audi and even Volvo in some parts of the country. Corvette specific events are not too common so getting 84 Vettes out on the same day was pretty special. There are similar tracks all over the country too, hope to spectate at a Sebring event in about a week myself. Randy

I think my first pass was in the mid 15 sec's area as I spun the wheels in three gears off the line in comp mode. Then again, having the engine bog would probably be slower, but not by much . Replying to: starrow68 (Apr 11, 2007 8:48 am) I was an old 1/4 mile junkie. IMO, if you want the best times, tires are the key. If you are serious with the sport, get dedicated race slicks. I'd be interested to see the improvement this one change would make with your experience added in. Low 11's should be obtainable. That would be awesome!   Have fun! How long does it take to get an ordered Z06? I've heard it's only 4 weeks. And are ONLY the high volume Chevrolet Vette dealers allowed to order these special Vette's? My local Chevy dealer says he can not order one. Why not? He wouldn't answer me.

Not an expert on Z06 - so others may know more specifics:   A small, low volume dealer may not have an allocation. That sounds right because CarMax had a $77K new 08' Z06. Asking $69K+. I think they were getting sticker on these units in 06'.
