You are so right...Nothing like having the car right in your face on a showroom to make anyone drool...I was doing just that not an hour ago with a Retired US Navy Chief, the local Corvette specialist; at a medium sized store here in Indy (Blossom Chevrolet). Get this...a buyer ordered his dream car some 18 or so months ago, gets impatient while waiting for his hand-built 427 and buys an in-stock Z-51 coupe instead...Now all of a sudden they have a Victory Red Z06 in 2LZ trim with HUD and NAV...WOW!! As to pricing, they're a little more saner than many at only $10k over the $79,000 sticker. They just put it on the showroom...I only hope that I can sell my Jensen in time...Cheers.

You need to keep looking.

Z06's, with winter closed in, are now going for MSRP in several places.

Turns out you're right a again...The Z06 sold last night for MSRP...$79,000...Blossom Chevrolet's General Manager was asking $5k over and the buyer was either a friend, skilled or both. In any event, it'll be shipped south to Florida in covered transport later this week. A great buy and a Lucky guy!!

I got the last 2007 Z06 in Tennessee on the 23rd of Dec at $77,425.00. All the options and black in color. The one before that was $5,000 OVER sticker. In the summer they were $10,000 over sticker for an '06!
I think I got a great deal on a great car.

Dealers are offering MSRP, which means buyers should be pushing for and getting below MSRP.

Absolutely NOT...A fair market price asked for and received preserves the investment many have made and will continue to make in the Z06! What you argue for goes counter to what we believe in. Save the below MSRP talk for the run of the mill Toyotas and Hondas and Please don't even broach the thought of devaluing such an American icon again.

I'll see your Z06 MSRP and raise it a thousand.

LOL, I very much like your sense of humor. My written words almost never seem to carry the intended tone; all too often they seem dry and abrupt...hence my given monicker. Your light hearted response is well received...it sets the tone for the coming year nicely indeed! Happy new year!!

The only problem with icon status is time. The C5 started
out over MSRP, and by the end of the run I got one for the
wife at $11.6k off. The C5 Z followed the same trend and
was selling at those discounts by the time the C6 was in
the wings. What this does to the values paid earlier in the
process is well documented and should be part of any one's
analysis. While putting the finger in the dike may work
once in awhile it is probably unwise to expect the wall of
water to stop because you think it should. Time will reveal
what we get them for in the future and if the 600hp Viper
and Blue Devil are real, who can say.

Get used to it, Z06's are selling for MSRP and less. The intial glow is off the rose. The initial rush of buyers who must have the car at any price is over. Z's are sitting on lots. I've checked out other forums and done some shopping, both online and in person. Probably will wait for the '08 model: more power, further improvements (no shifter rattle, paint peeling off the roof, etc.!)

Went thru the same thing w/ my Mustang GT Premium. Was happy to get it at MSRP in late '05 (most dealers were asking $5k markups), now see them discounted at $2500 below MSRP. Of course, that lessens resale value, but I've had enjoyment of the car all along.

A new car is not an investment. You want an investment, keep your money in the bank. If you want to live in the fast lane, you gotta pay.
