I'm really surprised the BMW would win in the front crash test--the s40's transverse engine is designed to fit in a very small space so the front end can really crumple up, while BMW has to deal with this big honking longitudinally mounted six. Having driven both cars in crummy conditions, there is an interesting difference in the traction control systems(optional on the volvo) it's obvious when the volvo system is working to keep the car pointed straight, but the BMW system is almost completely transparent. I suppose the volvo system alerts the driver more quickly that he ought to slow down, but it also may panic someone at the wrong moment. |

I pay 35,000 USD for the following: S40 T5 2006, Turbo 220 HP Moonroof Bixenon DSTC Premium audio (12 speakers + dolby prologic) fog lights (i believe this is standard) water cleaning for front lights (i don't know the name) manual back courtain leather geartronics with autostick entry lights other stuff (i have almost everything except parking sensors, subwoofer and awd)

Replying to: bons (Mar 27, 2007 8:21 pm) But people out there don-t believe their eyes when see the S40 like a rocket on the street. I drive good cars everyday and love how my S40 2006 handles on courves and respond to acceleration. The turbo since 1500rpm sounds great!!!!! My car do 0 - 100 in 6.3 seconds (don-t ask why) but my mods to the car is CERO. I-m trying to get the car to the dyno because this car is incredible fast. Even my friend with an M3 love to drive my volvo. He like it (and imagine that). regards |

Replying to: bons (Mar 27, 2007 8:21 pm) All this video showed was a highly unskilled BMW driver trying to drag race his car. The Volvo driver got a harder launch, and about .5 seconds sooner than the BMW driver. Also, for some reason the BMW's brake lights came on half-way through the run. The Volvo S40 T5 is certainly a quick car, but I don't think it's any quicker than a properly driven 330i.
