Does anyone know why Honda has not put automatic door locks on the Pilot? This seems to be a basic safety feature found on most vehicles. Thanks

| I have test driven the pilot after finally making a final decision NOT to buy the Odyessy. For some reason the Odyessy seats are just not good for my back, my 2001 odyessy was just as bad. However the pilots seats are a lot better, they sit me up straighter and feel better. Anyway the left rest thing on the driver side on the floor feels kind of funny when you have long legs like me. My friends 2 year old pilot does not have that . Has anyone had any problems with not having enough leg room in this car. I am hoping it will be okay and I will get used to it. THanks | |

But these are the outlyers. Personally, my Pilot is the first car I've owned that hasn't matched or exceeded the EPA city number in my overall mix of driving. And it gets two-mpg under itw EPA city rating whereas my previous SUV, with one mpg lower EPA ratings, typically exceeded the city number. My Pilot is basically getting what I'd expect a V8 Tahoe to get. Honda says it is to spec, but I'm disappointed in the fuel mileage of the Pilot. - Mark |

Interesting. Out of all ~20 cars I've owned, our Honda Pilot and now my Accord are the only 2 vehicles that have gotten near the high end of their EPA numbers. We consistently got 20-21 in the Pilot and I am getting 27-28 in the Accord (V6 6-speed). I've owned many many other different makes and models and they consistently gave me within 10% of the CITY number only (except my Dodge Dakota which was WAY below!). Just goes to show you, experiences vary greatly.

For instance, if I look at an '03 XLS AWD, its got a 4 liter V6 with 210 hp and carrying 4400 lbs of vehicle. The Pilot, in contrast, also carries 4400 lbs and has over 240 hp. To get the same mileage in these 2 vehicles is to be expected, and even favorable towards the Honda given its increased output. |
