Hry hows it going?? As per your question re MAssapequa Lexus, i was just there today checking out the new ES 350 and also GS 300 and IS 250. All nice cars and cant decide which one i want. I got a great price offer on the GS 300 no Nav since i was a previous customer many years ago. I got an offer of 44, 750, about 4,300$ off of the sticker.
The thing is im getting 8000$ for my trade a 2001 chrysler 300M with about 35000 miles. So im not sure if i can swing it. Even with 20,000 down in cash it would come out to about 460$ per month for a 48 month loan.
The sales people are good and service from what i remember is good. I have owned 3 Gs 300's over the years.
Hows rockville center?? Let me know and maybe ill check them out also. The saleman's name is Jim O'neill, he's there on Sundays.I think he said that hell discount a little the ES and IS 1000$.
What do you think of the IS?? Think its too sporty?? Im 50 years old and am not sure is the IS is too sporty for me and my age..
Take care and good luck

Hi,
I find the Massepequa store to be cramped and generally not up to the standards of the Rallye and Smithtown. That said, they are aggresive salespeople and I wouldn't be surprised if you might find a low price there. This Sat. I drove out there to see if they had the moon shell mica and sure enough they did. Well all I can say is "thank goodness" as the color was so unacceptable there was really nothing to think about (that was the color I originally thought I'd get...just shows you how misleading those little color charts can be).
It is quite a hike down there (I'm a North Shore guy) and, unless I could really save a bundle I really don't see myself buying from them. They did come thru for me yesterday though!

Do you still get a loaner if you take your Lexus in for service at a different dealer than where you bought it? Thanks

Most will still give you a loaner for warrenty work but they're not obligated to if I understand this issue correctly.
It's pretty much a crap shoot.

Hi...Since I do so many miles, the longer year warranties don't benefit me. My warranty is for a total of 5 years or 100000 miles, whichever comes first. I took that one since I average almost 20000 miles/year.
The dealer said the full amount of the warranty was refundable if I never used it. He also mentioned that if anything happened in the first 50000 miles, it would be part of the standard warranty and not the extended. So I need to be careful of making any claims on the extended if I want to get the full amount back. So actually the extended warranty only covers the miles 51000-100000.
At least this is how I understand it. Hope this makes sense. I got mine at McDermott Lexus of New Haven, CT.

Have you checked other Toronto Lexus dealers (Scarborough or Ken Shaw) before buying it from Don Valley North? If I walk in and ask for the same deal as yours, probably your salesman will give me much less or insist on list price because the car is in demand. Where do I get Canadian invoice price info? Is your $2300 off close to the invoice price? I live in Toronto and a ready buyer - at the right price. Have not bought a car for 10 years. What's the best approach in negotiation?
Not sure if I need the extended warranty - Lexus supposedly have no problems. My 10 year old Camry is basically problem free.

Last Friday I finally got to drive the Lexus ES.
It was very nice, easy to drive, very smooth with a good deal of power. But what disappointed me was how high the center console was and therefore my right leg was always resting on it creating a sense of claustrophobia. I raised the seat but I did not find the perfect position. Maybe I would need to play with it some more.
Most newer cars have a high center console like that and I find a lot of them uncomfortable.
I wish they had something with more room in the front and less in the rear where almost no one will ever sit in my car.
I sat in a GS and it didn't seem to have much more drivers room.
I was a little annoyed they only let me go around the block so I could not get a real feel for it. They were very protective of the car since they only had one. But I can tell it has all the driving ability I need so I was not worried about the driving feel.
As soon as I got back into my 92 Camry it felt so much more comfortable.
I get a better driving position and more comfortable feel in that car.
Last year when I was looking at Accords I had the dealer sit in my car and he admited that my car was much more comfortable.
I'm a lover of bench seats but very few cars have them nowadays, and I really don't like the ones that do.
Two years ago I should have bought the Toyota Avalon with the bench seat.
That was a comfy car.
I guess I'll just have to get used to the tighter feeling in the ES.
Other than that one thing I loved the car.
I've ordered Aquamarine Blue but after seeing the red I might have wanted to get that, it was gorgeous!

Bobbyshred, I used to drive a 92 Camry too. I can't remember the center console but I really liked that car. Since then I drove a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer and then a 2003 Nissan Murano. I didn't really need an SUV but wanted the AWD and extra cargo area. Now I have the ES350 and I'm loving it. The only thing that annoys me about the center console is it keeps opening accidentally if you lean on it the wrong way. Also, there is not a lot of room inside. There is a little tray at the top but I don't use that. I mainly use it for my Ipod and the charger for it. I wish it opened differently. Due to the design, you really can't access things easily inside.

We're also on the North Shore, & the drive to Massapequa is a royal pain. I'd hate to have to go there to resolve a warranty issue. (We bought our '99 ES at Rallye but never had to go back for warranty repairs. Our local mechanic handled all the routine required maintenance for us.)
