I have not heard anything from my Dodge dealer who also sells Chrysler vehicles. I am expecting my 2007 Dodge Durango order in 3 weeks.

Drove past a Chrysler dealer today and saw an Aspen sitting out front. IMHO Chrysler missed the boat. This is nothing more than a thinly veiled reskinned Durango. List on this Limited was just over 40K. The dash assembly was lifted directly out of the Durango, complete with the hard grainy plastic and shiny cheap wood. The leather seats were not the fine corinthian leather of old. In their place were coarse textured two tone leather seats that would have been at home in the Aspen of years gone by. The interior in general was not what you would expect to find in a $40K + SUV. The exterior lacked styling and imagination. This unit lacked running boards, which could have been used due to the stepin height. Because of this you could see the unibody/frame when approaching from the side. Almost everything was an option, including $30.00 for Deluxe floormats (Kind of reminds you of the old times). The dealer kept going out of his way to tell me that there were significant differences between the Aspen and Durango. I think he was trying to convince himself as well as me. After looking at this, I find it hard to believe that this will sell any better than the old Aspen. I hope Chrysler doesn't have high expectations for this SUV. Guess I should have kept driving when I saw this gem.

Aspen vs Durango by andrewmchorney

I have only seen pictures of the Aspen. I saw an 07 Durango SLT last Friday at the dealership where I have ordered an 07 Durango. I am getting a Durango AWD Limited with almost every option and the sticker is 41,400. I did not get middle bucket seats, heated middle seats or the navigation system.

My Durango is being built as I post this message. It is now in the trim state and was painted last week.

I saw an ad in the paper today for a local Chrysler-Jeep dealer that advertised "Come See the All New 2007 Aspen Today".

I wonder how long it will take for 0% APR for 72 months to appear on the Aspen, especially considering the recent significant drop in large SUV sales.

I hope it is soon. I know my Durango is built but not shipped which means 3 weaks. The dealer has told me that I can hold the vehicle there for a week to see if the incentives change in October

it did not remind me of a Durango at all, but sometimes I can be blind......

A console shifter would be nice...

Would this be comparable in reliability to the JGC/Commander series???...we keep seeing posts about the poor reliability of the Jeeps, made by DC, and obviously Chrysler is also made by DC yet does not seem to have the same poor reliability stats attributed to the Jeeps...

Any thoughts on this reliability issue???

Everyone - take a breather, this is just a slightly warmed over Durango, with a CrossFire hood to boot! I mean really, you all think the grill is handsome? Yuck, I mean YUCK for sure. And give me a break, the Hemi is powerful (really, it kicks a$$) - but the cylinder shut-off, etc. It is only rated for 14 city and 18 highway (same as the Expedition, which is larger inside and heavier) and less than the new Tahoe 15 city and 19 highway. This is just a joke - if ChyCo had introduced the Aspen in '02 it would be a hit, but the mark was missed ... by far.

Sometimes when I see a loaded up Tahoe, Durango, or Expedition I wonder why didn't they just buy a fully loaded minivan instead....

Instead of an Aspen one could buy a Town & Country Limited with somewhat similar luxury features for less.... Plus you get better fuel economy...

Fake wood decal, vinyl roof, cracked t-top support, front end suspension parts letting go, the list goes on and on. Luckily I didn't own the car, my friend did, but the name Aspen still brings back very bad memories. I would of thought Chrysler would of followed the same naming ritual as hurricanes. Don't reuse the names of the really bad ones.

It's the rapid nose diving depreciation of both of them that would make me buy neither one.
