#322 of 326 Purchase? 2007 VW EOS in Atlanta by atlantapi

Jul 24, 2011 (8:28 pm)

I am looking at a 2007 VW EOS which is in great condition with a good price to match. My concerns are are the colder temps. in Atlanta during the winter and the "rain leakage" issue. I have also been told that the turbo uses a great deal of oil. Any comments will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Hello, I am trying to figure out if I should purchase this vehicle. I went into my local VW dealer and saw this Eos sitting in the lot and I absolutely loved it. I asked for a carfax report and the maintenance records and I found some interesting things. Upon further investigation from this website I found some of the same minor problems in this vehicle that was repairs they are as follows:

at about 5,000 the previous owner had a faulty window regulator replaced on the front passenger side
at about 20,000 miles the vehicle started to run rough but the vw mechanics didn't find anything wrong, but did find the low fuel pressure sensor was faulty and replaced it
also at about 21,000 they replaced the a/c pollen filter
at 23,000 there was an 03 recall??
at 27,000 completed an 05 Recall?? replaced sensor
at 30,000 battery had to be replaced
at 31,000 crankcase breather valve was replaced
at 31,500 replaced driverside window regulator and found noise rattling to be fuel line in door, part had to be ordered
at 35,000 roof started to leak from pillars had resealling work done
at 40,000 convertible top stopped working had to perform battery midtronics test found low voltage repaired also replaced spark plugs
at 43,000 squeal found in engine, found drive belt tensioner was replaced also replaced ignition coils

also it seemed that everytime the previous owner went to take it in for an oil change it was $100 is that typical? I'd love some answers on this before making a desicion to buy it. They want $20,000 for it.

Thanks!

I just purchased my 2008 Eos 6 mos ago. I have to be honest, from reading the list of repairs done, at least half of them were unnecessary according to my knowledge of Eos so far. Beyond the top not working, which I've heard a 100 x on this forum, and the battery being replaced, the deal was just taking advantage of previous owner. All of the other things are typical Eos issues that I've had to one degree or another. The car rides rough, engine does not sound smooth, no oil issues, if you start screwing around with the car, it just makes minor issues worse. my pillars leak but only in hard rain storms such as recent hurricane, this car needs to be babied, kept garaged in inclement weather, hand washed if possible, premium gas, etc. Do not let a mechanic take advantage of you if you decide to buy this. I have to say though, 20k is too much for a 2007. that's what I paid for a 2008, looks like any major issues have been repaired, I'd buy it if the body's good and he comes down on price.

Has anyone else encountered this issue with a power drain when the doors are left unlocked? If so, what was the cause?
I've been encountering this problem since Jan 7 when the dealership replaced the batteries in my 2007 EOS VR6. They've had my car at the dealer for two weeks every month since that time and they have yet to deteremine where the draw is coming from!
Its painful to own a convertable at this time of year & not be able to use it!!!

I'm looking for a charger/mounting device for my Samsung Galaxy II that mounts directly into the outlet in the center console of my '07 Eos.
