Was your window problem ever completely fixed? I've been having the problem for the last year [since i bought my 2008 EOS last Feb] The car has been in the shop 6 times, mostly for the window problem but also for a leak in the trunk etc etc. The dealership just say's unable to duplicate problem. This week they changed out the door handles & when i picked up the car it did it in there parking lot. The dealership say's they do not know what the problem is but will just keep replacing things till it's fixed. Thanks for any info ???

I have not had a repeat problem of the window completely disappearing but I have had persistent problems with the windows (particularly the front passenger side) dropping and not coming back up or even dropping more than an inch rather than the quarter inch required. I took it to the dealer during my regular maintenance and they "could not duplicate the problem" but reset the computer. It worked for a day or 2 and then restarted. Because dealerships are not near my work I called another dealership to see if I could have the car looked at and they recommended a manual reset by, with the car off, dropping all the windows simultaneously and then raising them. Best done from outside with the key. Otherwise they suggested that it might be a problem with the window motor (since mine only affects my front passenger window). I tried this and have had no problems since, although I am ever mindful and check the windows all the time. This may explain why I have not had any problems during the warmer summer months where I have the top down so frequently that the simultaneous drop and raise of the windows happens on a regular basis.
I'd be interested in others opinions.
#293 of 326 Lurching/Surging-EOS

I've been having problems with Lurching/Surging. When I take my foot off the brake, the car lurches forward and is very jerky and noisy. Sounds like it's going to stall as well. Took it in to the Dealer and was diagnosed with a problem with the "Megatron Unit" This is the computer for the transmission. The part should be in between 5 - 7 days. I know that someone else had this problem. The car is still driveable, but the dealer termed it "Car Down". A rush has been put on the part. I hope this works because it's extremely annoying and embarassing driving a car that lurches at every stop sign and stop light, not to mention an uncomfortable ride. I wonder if my mileage is affected too?

Have not had that problem but I drive a manual, so I am not sure if the same thing applies. My previous VW had a similar problem but it was with the fuel injection system and was fixed with a recall.
#295 of 326 cabin trim surround
Apr 13, 2009 (10:50 am)
I have recently noticed that my '07 EOS has scratches on the brushed aluminum trim that surrounds the cabin when the top is down. Specifically where the trunk meets the rear window when the top is up. I believe this was caused by the retractable top "grinding" into the top up position. I'm wondering if any other owners have noticed this and what your dealer did about it if anything.
I've had the leaks everyone talks about and actually knew about them before I purchased. After the first leak my dealership performed the sealant treatment and I've had it done several times since (all at VW expense) and have not experienced further leaking. I love my car.
#296 of 326 premium gas requirement & other problems

Considering buying an EOS 2007 and wondering about the requirement to use Premium?
Have driven a supercharged Pontiac GTP over 140,000 miles on regular. Manual and gas tank label says Premium is required but never saw any difference in power or economy using more expensive Premium.
Seems like some serious problems discussed on this forum: water damage, etc.
#297 of 326 EOS's with a tow bar
Oct 27, 2009 (7:00 pm)
Has anyone had any experience fitting a tow bar to their EOS. I had one quote from a dealer that was nearly $3000. I then rung around a no of regular tow bar specialists but no one had ever fitted a tow bar to an EOS. I only want one for my bicycle rack. Had considered roof racks as an alternative with the very obvious drawback of not being able to drive with the roof down. Any suggestions? Thanks John

I read about a tow bar from UHaul that was only $150 bucks and you just needed to cut away a small area and most people were doing it themselves.
I restore old Schwinn bikes and damaged my trunk putting a bike in the back, the trunk lid is fiberglass, NOT metal so that is why I was looking for a mount. I am going to do it myself this spring.

Double check all the parts when the top won't go down, lots of problems with the trunk shelf, just set & reset a couple times. Also had a problem where the top goes 1/2 way down and stops. The little door on the driver side was sticking and didn't go all the way out, after popping it out it goes down, it's a pain but until I get it in the shop it works. Just double check that all the doors etc match (the one on the driver side was straight up and the other side was popped out.
