Replying to: zolorazor (Jul 12, 2005 9:42 am) Returned home and while in a grocery store parking lot I saw a 400h with one number before mine on the license plate. We must have taken delivery on the same day. I will be posting a detailed report on my trip in the mileage section of this forum in the next few days. |

Hello from Oregon. I just joined the ranks of RX400h owners yesterday, trading in our 98 A4 Quattro. It is Flint Mica/Black interior, w/RES and the upgraded stereo system. Just wanted to thank all the members who have posted here over the past few months, providing useful info and insights on this very fine vehicle. During the buying process, was surprised to see that the dealer could search our DMV for custom plates, so after some searching (we had a list of possibilities before-hand), we narrowed it down to 2 that were available: LIL GAS and LTL GAS We settled on LTL GAS. Hopefully it will be read as "little gas" I had first expressed interest to my dealer in the spring of 2004; added name on list, and formalized the request with a deposit in May 2005. As of yesterday, Lexus of Portland had delivered less than 40 RX's since they became available. The car offered was exact match to our request (we said we would take it with or without the RES or upgraded audio; inside/outside color was our only preference. Paid MSRP, no push for add-ons, though they were offered; no dealer markup. A rather pleasant experience, though a bit anxious since delivery info was spotty. At end of June was provided with an update of possible August delivery to my specs; got call last week that someone ahead of me in the queue had passed on this one due to timing. So when I got the call, I said YES! Our other vehicle is a very reliable 93 Land Cruiser; we opted to trade in our low-mileage 98 A4 Quattro, as I did not want the trouble of selling it. As I dive into the books and do some driving, I'll be posting some comments on my observations, as I am sure they may be useful to others considering this vehicle. There is simply so much in this vehicle that the brochure and online info does not even start to cover. Mike |

My RX400h is on board a ship headed here, to arrive Aug. 2 and be in Tucson shortly thereafter. Looking forward to having the vehicle. Traded in a Honda Pilot EX. Hated to have to pay MSRP (a first for me), but the car seems worth the effort. Spent a lot of time comparing dealerships and brokers to see if a deal could be had that was better. About the only differences I found was the document fees. Arizona allows dealers to set them and they ranged from $249 to $849. Not like California where it is fixed by law at under $50. Worse part of dealing with this was the way some dealers acted as if they were doing me a favor by considering selling me a car that has nearly $10k markup. And then there was the dealer in New Mexico who asked for a bribe. A $2,500 tax-deductible donation to the owner's favorite charity would move me to the top of the waiting list. I kept wondering if the next person who donated would move ahead of me. A two-week wait for MY vehicle in MY color choice wasn't bad. But you know, of course, what happened? After I signed all of the paperwork, the next day I got a call from a dealer 300 miles away who had a model on the floor he was willing to let me have if I came over that day. I'll take the wait. Getting my vehicle from my local dealer with a decent trade-in value and they surprised me by getting a better loan rate than I had already set up.

Well we finally bit the bullet and traded the Cayenne off on a 400h. With the Cayenne a few thousand miles away from the end of warranty period, we had come to the conclusion that we were never going to get Porsche to commit to correcting the issues that our Cayenne had been experiencing since we took delivery on it. And we weren't going to spend money after warranty to pay to correct them, so bye, bye, Cayenne. The dealer gave us blue book for an over mileage Cayenne, so we were happy about that as the Cayenne was an 04' with 49k miles and it had been hit in the right rear. Another issue was that the Cayenne only delivered 17 MPG and required premium fuel, and the uncertainty of the middle east situation was also a factor as I don't see fuel prices relenting anytime soon. Also, we have been so impressed with our Prius that we felt confident in the 400h product. So far the only issue we have had with the 400h is an alignment problem with it pulling to the right on flat pavement, however that was just corrected at the dealer over the weekend. We have seen as high as 28 MPG in mixed City-Hwy driving with the air on high set to 70 degrees, the lowest was 24.1 with the first tankful out from the dealer. Only complaint I have is why didn't they scallop the center console for more leg (knee) room? The seats are more comfortable than the Cayenne, although they were comfortable too, but the 400h's are a bit softer, which is nice. So we will see how this vehicle treats us. Also on edit the wife would have liked to have the lumbar support in the passenger seat, I don't remember this being an option, anyone know? |

Picked up a crystal white RX400h last weekend. No problem with availability. Chose one right off the lot, 5 available. They even discounted off sticker!!! They said they wanted to get them on the street. Very happy with the quality. Sure beats our Land Rover. Rides like a dream, mileage increasing by the day as we learn how to drive it correctly. Could have a little more leg room for a six footer but certainly not cramped. : My wife says its the best car she ever had. I loved my LS 400 years ago but went to the dark side (MB and BMW). I have new found respect for the quality of Lexus and the willingness of our dealer to make the deal work for us. I hope that I'll still be singing the praises of this car 6 months from now. |

Great job Lexus!!! I have been driving an LX470 for nine years. We also have a FX45. Now we are the proud owners of a RX400h. What a vehicle!! When we are driving our LX470 we were getting to the point were we felt like it was too much vehicle. We felt like we didn’t need to drive that large of a vehicle if we were taking only half the family on an outing. As for the FX, what a pig, we bought it on technology advancements that were on the surface only. Had some advancements but the cheap plastic interior and a ride that equals a golf cart on windy day has completely turned us off to infiniti. Also the gas mileage is horrendous to say the least. Now for the RX400h, take the best of both vehicles above and drop all the worst and we have the H. We are averaging 29.8 MPH ALL DAY. The ride is great; the looks are great, and most of all I feel great that I am giving back to our environment, 90% fewer emissions (which I can’t say about the FX, even though it’s the same size). Thank you Lexus for giving the educated public a CHOICE, and may I say an EXCELLENT one. |

We picked up our Crystal White RX 400H this weekend. Not knowing how demand has been, we were able to negotiate the $52K to $47K + taxes because of the Golden Opportunity sale. The only disappointment so far is no XM, but we knew that when we bought it. I only have one question... Does anyone know where you can get a list of the voice commands for the voice recognition system? I look forward to posting our mileage, which after 150 miles looks like 28 MPG. Regards, Pete |
