It's worse than that - I think the grey car next to the chap on the bike may be an Austin Allegro....
There are also a Peugeot 304 in front of that and a 204 a few cars back.

What is it with the French and dull car colors? Beige, tan, dirty white - especially in the old days.

Definitely an Australian built Ford Falcon from early 1960's. The first generation XK had US spec suspension which fell apart on Australian roads and had to be strengthened for Australia. (Some personal irony here as I am just off to get recently fitted rear shock absorbers replaced as they came unstuck on outback roads ten days ago.)
Falcons have been made here for more than fifty years, being the mainstay of the taxi fleet. However, production will cease in a year or two I as they no longer appeal to most. I am never happy driving them.
The car in the photo is registered in South Australia

Lower line Ponton, appears to be a later model with the wider grille, so 1958+, I think. If it is a 180, W120 - if a 190, W121.

Well, it was marked 180 D on the back. First one I've ever seen. Not that I'm looking a lot - it was parked near me at the local Target.
