Of course, in the song.. it's only the motor that's a Lincoln.. The car in the song is a Model A..

Yep:
It's got a Lincoln motor and it's really souped up
That Model A body makes it look like a pup
It's got eight cylinders, uses them all
It's got overdrive, just won't stall

With a 4-barrel carb and a dual exhaust
With 4.11 gears you can really get lost
It's got safety tubes, but I ain't scared
The brakes are good, tires fair

By the way, what are "safety tubes" ? Inner tubes for the tires?

I used to think that as well, but I think it's actually prehistoric-speak for roll-bars.

No takers on the traditional British roadster then ?

It's got a Singer engine, the make is 3 letters ( ie like BMW), and they were made 1939 , then 1945 to 1955.

OK, while you are all thinking about the British roadster, here's a near contemporary from your side of the pond.

Yes, it's an HRG - I think this one was a 1500, but the 1100 was pretty much identical. THey only made about 150 in total, but so many of them seem to have survived - I think they always sold to enthusiasts, a bit like Morgans, so not many got scrapped.

This one was registered in London in late 46 early 47.

Well, it's a bathtub Nash, I will guess '51. I can't read the script on the side, but it looks to have enough letters to make the car an Ambassador.

It is a 51 Nash, but it's a Statesman Super.
