I see three readily identifiable cars in this scene, and enough of others to take a stab.>

...what the blue car approaching the camera is. I saw one on the street about a month back and I don't know what it is. Its styling kind of looked like a BMW 2002 from the rear.

The car in motion is a VW Type 34 Karmann Ghia. Nearest the camera looks like a Triumph Herald, across the street is an Opel GT, maybe a Bedford or Ford van, and what looks like a Jag 3.4.

Thanks! I'm familiar with the "classic" VW Karmann Ghia with the little "grilles" on the front end.

Yep, that's the Type 34 K-G (aka VW 1600) which was never exported to the US. I'm not sure why except that they sold every Type 1 they could make.

It did look a little like a BMW 1600/2002 from behind but like the Bimmers it was heavily influenced by the Corvair>

I think there's another Jag MkII parked in front of the one that's behind the van.

I know a number of those made it to NA as private imports...I know there are a couple floating around my area, unless the worthless greenback has seen them re-imported.

Quite a few cars copied the Corvair in some ways. It's really a shame one of GM's progressive cars was doomed.

The front end says "Montverdi" to me, but I have no clue about the model.
