I have a quote from Casey Chevrolet in Newport News, VA for $14,500 "out the door" under the GM family first plan. Does this seem like a reasonable price.

Impossible to say with the info you provided. How is the car equipped? What options?

I can only estimate, since I have no idea of your actual location.

But, according to Edmunds...

MSRP is around 15,580. Invoice is about 14,700.

That is before any rebates.

Personally, I would suggest you research a few other models, such as Toyota Corolla, Nissan Sentra, Hundai and Honda Fit.

The MPG of the Aveo seems to be all over the board by posters on these forums, and for just a little more money, you can have a larger vehicle with the same or better mpg.

But, if you have your mind set on the Aveo, I suggest you send your requirements to 3 or 4 dealers nearby via email, and see what they offer. That will give you the best idea if the price is competitive or not.

I really liked the Fit however it is significantly more expensive. I have emailed 3 local dealers in the Baltimore, MD. My parents live in Newport News, VA and they took a look at the car for me as my car is dead in the water so I could not do it myself. I'm looking at the Aveo because I have an family member who works for GM and could get me a discount

A reporter from a large newspaper is looking to speak to consumers who traded-in a larger vehicle for a small compact car to save money on gas, but spent money on options to get something more comfortable and appealing. If you’re interested in speaking to the reporter, please contact Chintan Talati at ctalatiedmunds.com with your daytime contact information no later than July 9, 2008.

 Customer Rebate:-$500.00
 Selling Price:$14,088.05

 Sales Tax (estimate):+$876.48

I'd say that's an ok price, but dealers in Virginia Beach seem to be selling the car for less...

And as far as that "ends tonight" pressure, that'd be enough to make me buy from another dealer.....As we get closer to the 2009 Aveos coming, the 2008s won't be getting m ore expensive..

I was looking in Newport News at Casey Chevrolet. The downside is that I would have to pay MD taxes and tags when I brought the Aveo back to Baltimore.

Another dealership (Jerry's)here in Baltimore is alleging that this dealership (Fox)that gave me that quote did not mention the freight charge. Jerry's is alleging that Fox is trying to sell me a vehicle that belongs to Jerry's. The Sales Manager at Jerry's wants me to get the vin number so he can see if Fox is trying to sell me "his" vehicle.

Ack - I just want to buy a car. What's with the drama?

That's between the 2 dealers, and not your problem.

I wouldn't give it any more thought...

Simply stated...buy the car from the dealer you feel the best about and also gives you the best price.
