Come out here to So Cal, and you will "find" the patience for that 21+ MPG LOL....Ca High Patrol will see to that...I was bullhorned going out to the desert for 58MPH while towing my trailer and Dune buggies. I think MPG has a lot to do with driving style...I drive my truck like grandma, only flooring it sparingly i.e. freeway on ramps, etc..It's plenty fast, 2006 Duramax,6spd,Afe,4 inch SS exhaust, Bully Dog set 350HP and 774 Ft lbs torque...
And drive 65 MPH(vig enforced here) or less...I have a TRD Prepped Lexus GS 400 capable of 160MPH IF I want to drive fast,w/ the the brakes, handling, etc...These are trucks, and most peoples daily driver/fun toy hauler. I did NOT know about injector variability....mine seems to run good.
I also wonder IF all these people are switching to BIGGER tires, then throwing the MPG off...almost every Diesel around here has big tires, but how many have the proper re-programmer to adjust the size???I'll venture to say this plays a bigger role IMHO then any other single variable out there, IMHO, Franko

I don't know about GM's plans but I currently own an 2006 Jeep CRD and love it. I drive it like a rented mule, 80-85 on the Highway for an hour drive and back and get a little over 26 mpg on the tattle tale trip computer. I hope more manufacturers embrace Diesel so we can lessen our dependence on foreign oil.

I also have a CRD and love it. If I could have stuck with chevy and gotten a diesel that didn't have a 500ft-lb i would have. I am still getting the out of the box milage 22-23 mpg, considering Diesel is 10 to 20 cent cheaper per gallon than gas is (here in SC) that is really good.

Lookin up some info the "Cummins 600" name came about on January 1, 2004, with th mid-04' model. Inconel valves and high-cobalt content Stellite exhaust valve seats complemented revised ports with less swirl, a bigger turbo compressor wheel, and electronic wastegate control for the HY-35 turbo... I put an Edge chip in my 99 2550 Ford with the 7.3 and if anything the mileage went down. For the most part I couldn't see a great power increase... setting 2... I had it removed before taking it to the Ford dealer for warranty work on the tranny ... I won't put it back on... It was nice however to see EGT's... etc.. Too bad Ford didn't put guages on the dern Ford. I guess they didn't trust us with too much information.

Taxspeaker, Did you ever reply to the requests for the name of the chip you referred to in your post?
