Replying to: mphines (Mar 01, 2006 12:39 pm) My local dealership rejected a blown engine under warranty and said they handed the guy a bill for $15,000+++.   They said the chip caused the engine to blow, and Ford will not honor the warranty.   Ford's current computer isn't smart enough to know if/when a chip was installed, once it's been removed. The tech told me that Ford is changing their software to recognize and record a change to the program.   What's really funny, is that the dealership sells "Chips and Programmers" in their parts department!!!   TJ

The engine is so close to max as delivered you may pop it! I know some will write and say "I have no Problems with mine" don't buy it! If ya have'ta put a air cleaner kit and a cat back exhaust system NO CHIP! Warranty is still void but it will run somewhat better. Oh Yeah! Keep it under 2000 RPM's (around 1800) will reward you with the best Fuel Economy. When the Turbo kicks in it drinks like GW Bush.

I just installed a Bully dog chip, economy/tow setting and a aFe high flow air filter. I also have 265-75 16 tires, and the chip allowed me to adjust the size, which corrects MPG, speed , etc.. I am getting MIXED 16.5MPG, 22MPG 60MPH on the freeway. The 16.5 is a 3 tank average. The truck runs HARD. I do tow, but only about 4000 - 5000lbs TOTAL. Love the truck, no problems, and the install of the bullydog was EZ, but read the directions THROUGLY. Going to add a 4 inch SS Muffler next and see how that goes. FYI, FrankoDuraMAx

I'm looking to purchase a 2005 F-250 to use for everyday driving and pulling a 3 horse trailer. This truck has a AFE air filter, a modified exhaust, and Ford manual locking hubs. Replying to: alcowgirl (Mar 27, 2006 9:24 pm) hey there alcowgirl,I don't know if you have had any luck but what size of engine do you have first. also it is hard to say what your mileage would be due to the modified exhaust. you would have to check fuel mileage with a fuel fill on high way and fuel fill in town. then you'll get a est, on what it is. then when you pull your trailer it will be less gas mileage too. for your 4X4 do you have shifter in the vehicle or button to activate 4X4? DO NOT DRIVE 4x4 on dry pavement it will wear out your bearings. if you read your manual it will tell you everything you need to know about use of 4X4.good luck.I HAVE A 2000 F250 7.3L AND I pull a 4 horse trailer like its not even there. I would be interested in a Envoy, Trailblazer, Highlander or simulair sized vehicle with a diesel engine does anyone out there know of such plans ? I have heard from people who go to Europe they have vans, suv's ect over there with diesel, but do not have connections to purchase overseas. Any suggestions welcome.
