Looking forward to the US release. Ist that still planned for Spring 06 and does anyone know if that is closer to April or June, for example?

So am I. I expect to see it by June. The technology on the GS450h is phenomenal. It's regrettable, when I read all the messages on the various Lexus and hybrid forums, how very shallow the comprehension of this technology is. I got an RX400h a few months ago. I just put in my order for a GS450h. This will be the first time I've traded a year old car. With Lexus one knows the vehicle will be cpmpletely debugged.

Are you haveing problems with it?

Is it getting the economy you expected? What did you expect.

From your post, it sound like mechanical problems are not included.

"As with all hybrids, the benefits are not merely inclusive to horsepower. The boost includes an increase in torque - a steady surge of which is available from 0 rpm. For those curious, the GS 450h really does perform like a car powered by a 4.5-liter engine (which is what Lexus is referring to when designating it with the "450" numeric name), at least according to Lexus own internal tests. Taking less than 6 seconds toreach 60 mph from standstill, it slots well into the performance range of high-powered midsize competitors from BMW and Infiniti. Like the Highlander Hybrid or RX 400h, midrange pull should be more than enough to surprise the uninitiated, particularly for passing at higher speeds. As always, the GS 450h abides by Lexus commitment to producing full hybrid vehicles, with the ability to operate on pure electrical assist or in tandem with the gasoline engine. This seems to be a trend for all new hybrid vehicles, however, with even Hondas Civic now capable of running only on electrical propulsion, and GM committed to a full-hybrid system for its next-generation HEVs."

Too bad there aren't any plans for an AWD version of this vehicle for those of us that live in areas that are not real friendly to RWD vehicles (for part of the year) .

Neiman Marcus by hendjaz

I saw a magazine blurb about Neiman Marcus putting up for sale 75 of the 06 GS 450h sedans as its holiday vehicle in "limited edition" mode without further details on what that means. The article otherwise indicates it will have bluetooth, Mark Levinson stereo (yawn) and rearview camera. Price is $65K. No indication of the delivery date in the article. Perhaps there is greater detail at Neiman Marcus but haven't checked. This is noteworthy that this vehicle was picked by Neiman for this as it is some indication of a "special" car that is coming that is not yet available. I believe last year or the year before it was the BMW 6 series coupe at about $75K.

Never totally trust salesmen.... But since we don't have any proof whether the GS will have that much power, I can't really tell you if that's true or not. But I'd expect more like 330hp, because the 3.5 V6 makes 270hp already, and coupled to electric motors (60hp) that could make a nice 330. But I guess we'll have to wait until Lexus releases the car to tell the number of HP more accurately.
