This forum is to ask questions or enjoy bragging rights about swapping out your stock engine for a more powerful one, be it the same make or from another make of car. This forum is NOT for descriptions of replacing same with same merely to replace a blown up motor. Use the Maintenance & Repair Board for that kind of swap.

(cause these trannys swap, but the 16v has different gears) different computer? different wiring? ugh thanks!

| Hi, I heard I can swap my 2004 Yukon engine for a diesel engine. I was told that the engines should line up correctly. Any thoughts out there ?? | |

But as I learned meanwhile, the US-version engines sometimes are significantly different from their original German/European counterparts. As 8valve gasser the old ´90 Jetta was available here with 1.1, 1.3, 1.6 and 1.8 liter engines, and I guess your´s is a 1.8 liter. In general I can tell you that the 2.0 block definetly would´nt match with the 1.8 8V cylinderhead, due to bigger bore and different gasket layout. It doesn´t make much sense anyways, because basically it´s the 16V cylinderhead including the multipoint injection system being responsible for increased power. You will have to swap the entire engine and related auxiliaries to obtain satisfying results. If you could check out the engine codes (the Passat 2.0 16V should be 9A) I might be able to give you some advice. |

| I have just finished a swap and I am have a horrible fuel mpg problem. The orginal engine gave me 23 to 30 mpg while this motor is only giving me 12 to 15 mpg. This is my first swap. What should do to correct this? The engines have the same make and model (92 toyota corolla) | |

Question: Could anyone out there help me? I recently over the weekend swapped a 94 Camry engine for a 92 Camry engine. Reason being was that the rod had cracked the block of the 94, thus the swap. At any rate, the fuse boxes on the two engine are different (do not ask me as to why is that). We dropped the engine wired everything up to fit the fuse box for the 94 even though the engine we put in the car is a 92. Now the problem is the car will not crank, although everything else is working properly. We checked and re-checked the wiring. Now should we re-wire the harness to fit the 92-fuse box since the engine is a 92? Please can someone help me? |

Hello guys, I was wondering if anybody could help me? I was thinking about doing an enigne swap on my 1989 Nissan Pulsar NX Coupe. It already has a 1.6L and I want to upgrade to a 2.0L GTI-R. Could this swap be done? And if so, what all parts do I need. Like mounts, fans etc. Some people say that it could be done but the problem is finding a front wheel drive manual tranny that will line up to the engine. My car is FWD and the pulsar GTI-R engines only comes with AWD Transmission. Has anyone out there did this swap before? Thanks guys I'm new to this site so I jus Want to say hello to ALL!!!!!!!
