What is this discussion about? Engine

This forum is to ask questions or enjoy bragging rights about swapping out your stock engine for a more powerful one, be it the same make or from another make of car. This forum is NOT for descriptions of replacing same with same merely to replace a blown up motor. Use the Maintenance & Repair Board for that kind of swap.

I'm getting ready to stab a 1990 302&AOD out of a mustang into a 1970 ranchero. Any good tricks of the trade you would like to share on this one. I would like to use the wire harness out of the mustang instead of the after market one.

what model celica do you have?

The V6 in the '90 camry only puts out 156 hp/160 lb-ft. Not exactly "beastly," especially when you'll be adding weight to the nose of your car.

If you have a GT or GTS, then you are already better off than if you swap in the heavier V6. If you have an ST, then I suggest looking for a GT/GTS.

I have a question about o2 sensors. I'm trying to put a fuel injected motor into my boat and was wondering how i can trick the computer into thinking there are still some o2 sensors at work. Do i need to go through the problem of doing this?? I'm open to any suggestions.
      Thankyou

Hey. I have a '92 Toyota Corolla 4dr sedan with a 3 spd auto. I just did something serious to the engine, not sure what yet, but I figure on replacing it so I was just wondering if there were any engine swaps for my car that would give me more than my original 102hp and how hard it would be to put in a manual tranny

I have a 1992 toyota paseo with a tiny 1.5L motor and I want to upgrade to a little bit larger engine like a toyota celica 2.2L or if possible 2.0L turbo. I want to keep it simple if possible. What advise can you give me about a good engine with some good power?

Mercedes 240D engine swap by 240downer

I'm looking for information about installing a 300D engine into a 240 D
body. My 1980 240D just ate the #2 cylinder and I thought this might be
a good opportunity to get a bit more power from my vehicle. The body of
the 240 is in excellent condition and best of all, it has a manual
transmission. Will the 300 bolt up to the transmission? Can I use the
same flywheel from the 240? Will I need to go to heavier front springs
due to the extra weight of the 300? Would I be able to use the turbo
diesel engine or non-turbo?
Conversely, could I install the manual transmission and fllywheel from the 240D into a 300D? I have an opportunity to purchase either a 300TD or a 300D. This would be much less labor if the swap is possible.
Is there someone out there with experience in this matter?
I have plenty of expertise is working on vehicles (was an aircraft
mechanic, also ran a fleet of 40 vehicles) so I'm not afraid to try
something new.
Thank you.

There is absolutely no reason to do that. The engine in the 4-cylinder Tibby is essentially a mirror-image version of a 4g63 already, so everything would be backwards, none of the engine or transmission mounts will line up right, and you won't gain anything from the swap. Get a super or turbo kit for the Tibby and have fun with that.
