What is this discussion about? Engine

This forum is to ask questions or enjoy bragging rights about swapping out your stock engine for a more powerful one, be it the same make or from another make of car. This forum is NOT for descriptions of replacing same with same merely to replace a blown up motor. Use the Maintenance & Repair Board for that kind of swap.

Wouldn't trading it for a Hemi-powered one be cheaper? Not to mention you'd at least have a warranty, unlike the '05 you'd be messing with.

the 7 bolt 4g63 engines are known to crank walk. there are a significant amount of people swapping in the older 6 bolt engines in place of the 7 bolt as it doesnt have this issue. id say just pick up a blown 6 bolt and have it built with aftermarket pistons and rods, maybe stroke it out. are you planning on an aftermarket EMS?

Hi Wilson, that's an old pickup that was been badged differently in the States - my guess is that your rig was sold here as a Chevy S-10 but don't hold me to it (Generations).

I'd ask over in the Isuzu Modifications/Aftermarket/Accessories discussion while waiting for responses in here.

'89 Camaro RS 305 into a 1992 4x4 S10 by dwid1000

Hello. I was wondering if anyone knew how to swap a 1989 Camaro RS 305 engine into a 1992 4x4 S10 that originally had a 4.3L in it. I'm looking for two answers. 1 - detailed instructions on how to and 2 - what new parts i would have to buy and modifications i would have to make. Thanks a bunch.

that's a tall order from this board.

in any case, i'm wondering the need. The '92 4.3 had 160hp, right? The '89 Camaro RS (according to a source I just found) had 170. They both had the same torque (230). Not to mention the fuel-injected carburetor thing that chevy dubbed TPI vs the more advanced fuel injection system of the 4.3.

I also know there is a plug-in chip for the 4.3 that improves its power quite a bit (i don't have hard numbers on this, only past experience).

So why go through the trouble? Only reason I can think of is that the 4.3 engine is blown and you happen to have the 305 on hand?? Heck, it would be alot easier, and probably cheaper, to go find another s10 with a good engine.
