Replying to: wstevec (May 10, 2008 7:07 am) Actually VW says it's ok to use 87 on the Tiguan. You can use Premium if you have the extra 20 to 30 cents for it. The gas cap says you should use premium but VWoA says it's just fine to use 87.

This one looks nice but what about reliability? I've read a lot of horror stories about VW. How much is the extended warranty from VW? Does it cover everything?

I was disappointed with the pricing as well. It seems that VW is trying to kill itself in the U.S. by putting too high of a price on a car that's not really luxurious. I think they need to remember that volkswagen literally means "people's car" in German. In other words a car that it affordable! I can't believe privacy glass doesn't even come on the bottom "S" trimline. For that price I might as well hop up to a LR2, a vehicle with some real luxury, not just mediocrity at luxury prices! And I don't know if you checked LR2 prices lately, but a HSE with technology (nav) and lighting (xenon) packages tops out at almost $41k.   You aren't comparing apples to apples. The think i care about is getting BiodieseI....NOW. Better yet , pair biodiesel with Hybrid and I will pay almost ANY price. VW will be increasing their warrenties next year similar to mini cooper warrenty.

The salesmen asked me "why i hadn't bought their diesel when it was out years ago if thats what i wanted'" he doesn't get it . I didn't want that diesel...I want tier2 bin5 diesel.....night and day . All the vw salesmen seem to have little tech knowledge in all areas of the autos they sell. Makes me miss my Subaru Outback that I just sold. It goes from 4 years/48k miles, to 3 years/36k miles if I'm not mistaken. Drive train is covered for longer. You do get scheduled all scheduled service for "free" at 10k, 20k, and 30k miles. Replying to: verdugo (May 20, 2008 7:38 pm) hey lucyinfiniti,   A Tiguan SEL 4Motion fully loaded tops at $37,500. That's quite a bit cheaper than the LR2 HSE. But you're more than welcome to go with the LR2 if you feel it's a better value for you.
