Toyota has openly admitted in recent years to numerous recalls in many of their vehicles. However, to be fair to every mfrg, a recall is not a judge on reliability. It really means the mfgr is admitting to a problem, and is willing to make it right. They are only reported to the NHTSA when it involves an issue with safety. |

After much looking and pondering I finally ordered a Tiguan. Don't know when or if I am actually going to get it since there is still no word on when they will build the 6 spd manual version. But at least the dealer is going to try to put in the order. Grey w/charcoal, i-pod, monster mats (i think that's what they're called), trailer hitch (for bike rack), aftermarket tint and I'm thinking of adding aftermarket wheels (Tirerack, perhaps). Wish I could get the HUGE sunroof on the manual version.....anyway, pretty darn excited to be upgrading to 200 turbocharged ponies from my 95 Pathfinder (150hp and heavy- thirsty too!) $450 over invoice with no haggling...I may try to get a few dealer accesories, mats perhaps, gratis. If not, still seems like a very, very nice car for $23k. |

| Navi equipped Tiguans are now available. The new navigation is a touch screen unit and has a hard drive to store the maps and music. It even has Sirius Traffic info which is awesome. You just load the maps in once unless you need an update. By loading the maps on to the hard drive you can free up the CD/DVD drive. It even comes with an advanced iPod adaptor. Part number for the iPod cable is 000 051 446 C. It has HDRadio and Sirius radio as well. Really nice system that is just coming out to the USA. | |

It appears as far as IIHS testing goes, the 2009 Tiguan is the best C-SUV in surviving crashes (front, side and rear). Add in the recent CU review and this vehicle seems like a winner. Now if only the reliability for it proves good, and VW fixes up their NW dealer network (pretty ragged at moment)

| Any word if the Tiguan will get the TDI. This would be a great engine option! Wife loves her Jetta TDI DSG...... | |

Just ran across a website that did a fresh, top-bottom review of the 2010. http://consumerguideauto.howstuffworks.com/2010-volkswagen-tiguan.htm I was impressed by the thoroughness of their review. Worth a look. Vince. |
