Taurus X 1,148 3,109 -63.1 3,187 7,497 -57.5 Another poor sales performance for the TX. This is not a bad car, but you must buy it really cheap. It has the worst resale value of any car in its class. There are plenty of new 08/09s still on the lots! If you work hard, you can get $12-13K off MRSP!

A reporter wants to interview someone who drives a 3-row crossover, has kids and plans to drive the vehicle to a vacation destination instead of taking an airplane. If this describes you, please respond to jfallon Thanks, Jeannine Fallon Coporate Communications Edmunds.com |

Still the best I am getting dealers in my area to do is ~$6000 off MSRP. We really need a third row that accepts car seats and this vehicle is the one we can make fit our budget the easiest (~$20K). I can't believe 2008s aren't being given away.

Do you think getting a 08 Taurus X SEL with ~20,000 miles for around $18K OTD is possible? There is a private party resale on an 07 Freestyle with 6000 (that's right 6000) miles for $14K. Not a bench seat though! That would be really tempting otherwise!

Replying to: penguins1 (Apr 04, 2009 11:33 am) It is not a refined as the TX (engine, transmission, soundproofing, etc..), but in this used car market $14K sounds pretty good. A number of people on this board love that car. I was warned by my friend in the business concerning possible problems with the CVT. Used TX SELs w/10-20K miles were selling for $12-13K in Nov and Dec 08. Prices are up due to a shortage of cars on the used market. If you can find a SEL that was purchased at the auction in the Nov/Dec time period, the dealer should have a low enough cost to make that deal. Cars purchased Jan to date, are $3-4K more expensive. I had a dealer offer me a new $35K MSRP Limited for around $24K. Over the next few months, a new car deal may be a better option. Good Luck!
