Wholesale Prices Rise in February
Wholesale used vehicle prices (on a mix, mileage, and seasonally adjusted basis) increased significantly again in February. Seasonally adjusted, February’s rise was 3.7%, which came on the heels of a 3.8% increase in January. The Manheim Used Vehicle Value Index now stands at 105.5, which represents a year-over-year decline of 2.4%.

Used TXs are really over priced now!

The TX has the crossover market's worst resale value.

Look in the SE for off lease cars by ShelbySaab

I purchased our 08 EB from our local Ford Dealer, it was Corp off-lease program car with 19K on the clock & paid $19,500 for the car. It was pretty clean with sunroof & Multsync and new floor mats. Drove a "new one" just to compare with the off lease car, could NOT tell any difference. We are very please with the 26MPG and how the car drives. Ford shouldn't have any problem selling the TX it's a fantastic wagon..

Congratulations on your purchase! Could you tell us whether it was FWD or AWD? Did you test drive both and, if so, could you see a difference in driving behavior?

Thanks!

Another poor sales performance for the TX.

This is not a bad car, but you must buy it really cheap. It has the worst resale value of any car in its class.

There are plenty of new 08/09s still on the lots!

If you work hard, you can get $12-13K off MRSP!

Any suggestions on how to get that much off MSRP? I am in Austin TX and I am seeing 5K off MSRP. That just blows my mind that they think people would pay that these days.

It will be hard, but it can be done.

Many of these cars are been on the lots over 400 (+) days.

There are a lot of factory to dealer incentives out there.

As far as value, the 08 Mazda CX-9 and the Veracruz are a much better overall value.

Good Luck!

A reporter wants to interview someone who drives a 3-row crossover, has kids and plans to drive the vehicle to a vacation destination instead of taking an airplane.
If this describes you, please respond to jfallonedmunds.com by Monday, April 6, 2009 and indicate your vehicle's make and model.

Still not seeing great deals... by penguins1

Still the best I am getting dealers in my area to do is ~$6000 off MSRP. We really need a third row that accepts car seats and this vehicle is the one we can make fit our budget the easiest (~$20K).

I can't believe 2008s aren't being given away.

That is basically invoice and the rebate.

They can do much better!

Good Luck.

Thanks!

We are also looking at used ones. The trouble is we want a bench second row and those seem hard to come by. Do you think getting a 08 Taurus X SEL with ~20,000 miles for around $18K OTD is possible?

There is a private party resale on an 07 Freestyle with 6000 (that's right 6000) miles for $14K. Not a bench seat though! That would be really tempting otherwise!
