1993 300ZX NA - Low Idle by andydelmar

I have a 1993 300ZX, with 63,000 miles, normally aspirated with some aftermarket additions- Stillen headers, HKS filter & exhaust, Dinan chip. I've owned the car since new and have always had a low idle problem. The car idles at 650 rpm and keeps searching for a higher idle (drops to 650 rpm, kicks up to 750 rpm, drops, etc.). It all effects a rough idle. IF I put on the A/C, the idle kicks up nicely to 900 rpm and is smooth. The dealer just keeps saying the computer checks out fine with no error codes. Any suggestions? Note- I've tried the 'idle adjustment screw', as has the dealer, and it doesn't fix the problem.

95 300zx tt modification recommendations by sirev1

My 1995 ZX is an Automatic. I am looking to do some modifications to spice it up a bit. I read replies on another forum regarding a KABOOM 20,000 miles after a(kick ass) performance modification and that is EXACTLY what i am afraid of happening. I was thinking about adding a performance chip, exhaust system and maybe a cold air intake. Or maybe upgrading the turbos or the intercoolers. I have been looking for any information and recommendations about performance modifications and their long-term effects on my car. I love driving my car very much and hope to have it for a long time with the least amount of problems and damage as possible. But like I said, I would like to spice it up a bit.

Air Conditioner Problem by myputtputt

I've had 3 Z's from 1985 to 1987 and they have all had a problem with cold air switching to hot air when manifold vacuum drops. The AC shops charge $800 and up to fix the problem but I'm working on a cheaper solution. After several trips to the wrecking yard I've worked out how to get to the vaccuum lines and baffles under the dash. The last obsticle is getting access to the linkage without cutting through the plastic air duct. Today I'm heading out to the wrecking yard to continue my quest. Thought I would post this and see if anyone has been able to fix this problem without having to do remove the display unit behind the steering wheel.

Looking for Hatchback 87 300ZX 2+2 by ddunlap

I bought my great "Z" new in '87, and now need to replace some rusted body parts - mainly starting with the hatchback. ( got some great water leaks). Anyone point me in the right direction to find a good one at the right price. The best auto-body shop in the area will repair mine for $1000 with no guarantees - "choke".! I seem to be able to find tons of parts for the running gear, but little to nothing on major exterior body parts.

AMB refers to ambient out side air and temp refers to internal temperature.

300ZX Air Conditioner Problems by myputtputt

It seems that 1985 through 1987 Z air conditioners are prone to a very specific type of problem. When manifold vacuum drops, the air conditioner switches from cold air to hot air. The bad news is that most A/C shops will charge $800 and up to fix it. The problem is typically caused by a vacuum leak under the dash. The control baffles and vacuum lines eventually degrade and leak. I've had 3 300zx's and they have all had this problem. After several trips to the wrecking yard I've worked out a way to get to access the baffles and vacuum controls. The final obstacle is the duct work. When I've worked it out, I plan to post it here but in the mean time I'd like to hear from anyone who has found a way to replace the baffles without cutting through the duct.

O.K. If nobody knows whre to find a replacement hatchback, does anyone know where to find major body parts? Maybe there's a parts house specializing in 300ZX's somewhere. Tweeks in Indianapolis used to deaal in Porsche and 300ZX's - but now only Porsche. Any help would be greatly appreaiated. Thanks. Dave
