There are 9,000,000 LPG vehicles at the end of 2002 which is more than 8,000,000 million Ethanol powered vehicles.

LPGas or Propane powered cars have been around a long time. I have a friend that set up his Chevy PU truck to run on propane or regular gas over 20 years ago. It ran very clean and economically on Propane until they started running the price up. Last I talked to him he still had the truck. It was a 1979 with a big block V8.

Its very common for Forklifts to use LPG as fuel.
It has more energy for a given volume than Gasolene, but less than Diesel. However its a 3rd alternative in Oil based fuels.

In the 60's I spent the summers with my Grandfather, who delivered LNG. Of course, his delivery truck ran on LNG; when he ran low on gas, he simply hooked up the hoses and filled it up. I thought it was extremely cool at the time, no pun intended.

LPG / LNG by yerth10

Which one is more efficient between LPG & LNG. Any idea.

Some people believe that LNG carries more energy than CNG, but it depends on the compression ratio.

At present 350 bar (5,000 psi) is the highest, but 700 bar (10,000 psi) has already been attained in research and also demonstrated in GM-Sequel a hydrogen fuel cell vehicle.

Anyway, whether NG's progress depends on the prices of both Oil & Gas.

I think the natural gas companies are very opportunistic. When I looked into converting my Chevy Truck to LNG or CNG it cost about 1/2 the price of unleaded per mile, around 1993. As soon as CNG vehicles started becoming popular they upped the price of CNG to equal regular unleaded. That is according to a fellow that owns several CNG taxi cabs.

If there is only 1 CNG station in that city, naturally he will do. Some competition is needed.

That is why CNG vehicles should also have Gasoline / Diesel as secondary source.

Propane conversions were real popular in the late 1970s through the 1980s. Most were in PU trucks and were duel fuel setups. When the price of gas came back down they kind of faded away. Too expensive to convert.

Has anyone converted a 4WD Sequoia to run on LPG, if so where did you put the tank(s) for the LPG? I am planning on importing a 2006 Limited model to the UK but with the price of Gas here will need to convert it to LPG. Landcruisers no problem but Sequoia not a model availible here so need the info in advance before payimng the money
