Thanks for the URL of the LED lamps. I didn't know about that one.
As far as the Azera lights are concerned, I don't want the rear end to look like it was hit by an Auto Zone or Pep Boys store. I realize many LEDs could be made to work but if it isn't going to look like a factory lamp, I won't try. Thus the reason for my looking to salvage some trunk lamp units; the reflectors molded into the factory plastic are the distinctive feature. Without that, you have a Rube Goldberg looking arrangement.

In my opinion, don't overdo it.

No problem, always glad to help.

I understand your concern, that's why I'm not sure if it'll work completely as the Azera strip doesn't have the same refective qualities that the tail lights do.

Good luck with whatever you end up doing.

Thanks Allmet and Florida Bob. I'll just sit and wait for someone's bad luck to provide some donor parts. Nothing will be done until I have the junked parts. Then maybe it would look overdone anyway at which time I will forget the whole idea.

Checked on eBay, but they currently have only headlight assemblies available. Naturally, while looking, I had to go and buy some embroidered Azera floor mats for about $30 and a currently-unprogrammed key fob for $7...

Just got back from the golf course...started to get cold, so I pumped up the heated seat, cranked some Green Day and WOOHOO! Fun. I test drove many cars and stereo quality was up there on my list, and folks, this one kicks a**! BTW..clubs fit easily into trunk for you duffers on the fence. Well made car hard to beat for the money. I can't wait to see the 2008. I am hoping for more goodies.

When I first took mine in for the limp home code in Dec 07 (3 days after purchase) my service department more or less had the same story. They said the immobilizer was not actually installed on my new 07. After laughing and calling them idiots, I spoke to the service manager and he got on line with Hyundai service and basically said "whoops, my bad" They asked me to give them a day to learn the process to get me the code and come back in. I also called Hyundai Customer support to report the incident, they were apologetic and said they would also contact the dealership.

I did go back in two days later and they programmed my requested code into it, in seconds. Apologies accepted, I got a free car wash. Apparently, only one other owner (rememeber mine is an 07) had even ever asked about this. I also talked to the sales manager and my salesman, so others might be better informed.

All that said, unless it is close to home, I will probably have it towed under the free roadside protection plan, rather than use the limp home, but at least I now have what I paid for even if I don't use it.

RE: 3717
After 1 1/2 years of the model being on the market, one would believe that the Service Manager would know the features of the car. How many other Azera's did the dealership deliver in the past?

Don't know about 06's, but I THINK about six or less 07's before mine. This was the same dealer I got my 02 XG 350L from, which was the first XG 350, they sold. Got it just after delievery on a Thurs nite, I had to take in back in the following Saturday, so the sales people could actually see the car and figure out how some of the more technical lux options worked. Despite the lack of great knowledge of the dealership, they have always been easy to deal with, and if I do have a problem or questions, they are willing to check it out and not fight about it (like with the immobilizer). I know from other Hyundai owners that their service department work (when they do know what's wrong lol), has been excellent.
