Anyone happen to know where I might pick up one or two damaged or salvaged Azera trunk lid tail lights? I want to do some experimenting with the LEDs.

Don't have a spare but I do have a couple LEDs and would like to replace the trunk light. Haven't the slightest idea how to go about it. You've obviously been thinking about it. Keep us posted and tell us about the procedure if you manage to actually replace that light. Thanks. CDM

CDM, the LEDs are the easy part. I want to experiment with the reflectors that we have in our stock tail lights. There are 28 in each light unit and I'd need two of the trunk units to salvage enough for the "Azera" strip (if I can make it work). Korean Imports has such a strip but I think it would not look the same as the rest of the rear lighting which is my intention.

You can get the audio switch for 42. dollars shipped from Dream4u outfit (ez install). As allmet said, upgrade to Sylvania H7 and H1 Silverstars are plug and play. Would I lie?

I think I know what you have in mind...
You want to see if you can add LED's to the AZERA strip across the back between the two tail lights???
You would probably be better served by taking a trip to your local Pep Boys, Auto Zone or looking online for some LED's. Next step...drill holes equidistance apart (big enough for the light to fit into. Insert bulb and seal with a good clear silicone.
You might want to see if you can tap into the brake light wires so that it will work in conjunction with the tail lights as one complete unit.
Not sure if you'll have to get any sort of relays since the tail lights are LED's.

Allmet33, I did think of your suggestion but it would look just like the Grandeur strip sold by Korean Auto Imports in Arizona. The picture looks too much different than the stock tail lights. That doesn't appeal to me. I am not sure if I would use an illuminated Azera strip as a brake light or running lights. Probably the latter, since we already have a high mount brake light. In any event, any new lights have to match the existing ones or I will forget the project.

I agree with you on not allowing the stip to light up with the brakes. However...by installing the LED's it's not going to look exactly like the tail lights unless you can find a way to make the inside of the back piece reflective. At best...it'll merely light up.
As far as the LED's matching...they'll pretty much match as long as you find some nice bright LED's, try this website and maybe your project will be little easier.
Super Bright LED's
At any rate...good luck with the project.
