Got the Sun-n-Sound pkg. on my 2009 GS with Rockford/Fosgate, Sirius, 6-CD in-dash changer, subwoofer in trunk... NICE, but really wish satellite radio display would show artist/song title. Called Sirius, Mitsubishi, even R/F. Was told by local dealer that artist/song title will not display on Sirius satellite radio in certain '09 Mitsubishi models b/c they have the old analog type satellite receivers (due to space constraints in dash) instead of digital receivers. (One step forward, two steps back).
 
Anyone know if this is accurate info? I just want my artist/song titles!

I know it sucks but you won't get the info....I was surprised when I got my 08 GS that it did'nt show it too

Happy holidays everyone,
 
My daughter have requested for a Mitsubishi Eclipse for about two years. She will have her license next year. So, I'm going to shop a Mitsubishi Eclipse for her pretty soon.
 
I was told there are some "issues" with certain model of the Eclipses.
 
Which year and model you guys recommand? Any safety related options that I should get for her (We live in NY, lots of snow)

I'm not sue what issues you are referring to; performance, safety, reliability?
 
I have a 2008 GT and it has given me flawless service. The Eclipse has been slammed by the auto press as not being a "true sports car" but that seems to be a matter of prefference. The Eclipse won't handle like a BMW but why would you expect a $20K car to do that?
 
The GT suffers from some torque steer when you really push it but you'd be crazy to give a car that fast to a new teen driver. The GS has enough power for a new driver and handles as well as any modern car.
 
The only thing I might worry about is the lack of good rear visability due to the fastback styling. Like many sporty cars the Eclipse is a littly tricky backing up.
 
Post 2009 model came with stability control as well as traction control which could help NY winter driving.

Wish I had traction control, the winters really suck in NYC, I don't even take it out when it snows. I selling my 08 GS w 22k miles, love the car but i've gotta get AWD car, I go back and forth to PA & Long Island and if there's snow in the forcast the car does'nt go! A great deal for someone, $12 with 22k miles and 38k left on warranty!!!!!! Have'nt been able to sell it for 4 months,I don't get. Getting 28mpg with 2.4, only issue has been that the car takes forever to warm up in the cold, talking 20 mins at 30 degrees and dealer has'nt found anything wrong!Needle does'nt even make it to half way, just little below the middle mark. Have you herd of this?

okay so heres the deal ..I bought the first 2006 sunset pearlescent in our area..straight off the truck.June 2005..about 5 months ago the clearcoat on top of the car started to fail and is failing fast all over the car now..also had some fading on the rear trunk area..but having been in the retail paint for 25 years..assumed it was the color as some colors are more apt to fading..so accepted the fading paint and still got compliments on the car..now I have 8-9" areas..more than one and other spots all over the car that are just coming off ..appearing more and more..had heard mitsi had had problems with paint failure and had settled a lot of cases..and I had read some of them were sunset..called dealership..they said they don't deal with them anymore
and gave me number of company..which virtually told me the problem was with the black cars and I was sol..so told them since they weren't cooperating how do I go about getting something started..all they said was they would note my problem..wondering if other people had this problem..only other complaint is my driver window has a scratch from raising and lowering it and they told me that was just something that happens with them and was to be expected..would appreciate your thoughts..

My paint is fine but I have Rave red and I keep mine in the garage. It is out in the summer sun at work all day so I don't know what to tell you. Yes I've heard stories of the black cars having clearcoat problems but I've seen black cars of many brands do the same.
 
There are some stories on the net about the previous generation having problems with clearcoat failure, especially on the black ones.
 
That's a shame that the dealer is giving you a run around.

Appreciate the input..I had a red 2000 eclipse that I traded in for this one and the paint held up good..everybody loved that one also..this one held up until the paint warranty was gone and then failed..was thinking it was something I had done until my son told me about the other cases and I did some research.anyhow my next step is that I have a new paint rep that used to be on the automotive side and is bringing a mil gauge next trip here..said sounds like skimped on the paint..anyhow wish me luck

I have an 06' GT. I purchased this car in 08'. I really love the car. I have many pros and hardly any cons. I will say...I don't think this car is a good choice for a new driver. It has a lot of power and is quick to go. Mine is a manual transmission, which makes the driving experience that much better!
 
I live in PA, and I have only driven it one winter since I purchased it. It handled very well in the snow. I work in a very unpopulated area, which means the roads are not maintained. I think it handled so well because it is a manual transmission. Put a set of good tires on it and it will go.
 
I also agree with another reply...rear visibility is much to be desired. I am only 5 ft. tall, and I can say that backing up is a chore in this car. A back up camera would have been ideal for a short person like me!
 
All in all, the only thing I have ever had to have repaired is the radio. I have had it in the shop 3 times now for radio malfunctions. 3rd time is the charm though...this radio seems to be a keeper
 
Good luck with your decision. I defintely give a thumbs up for the vehicle. I can't say many negative things about the car. It's a great running vehicle and has been mechanically sound.

I have an 06 Eclipse GS (2.4L) that has been making a single 'knocking' noise when I first accelerate in Drive after the first start of the day. It does not do it in reverse, only in drive, and only once. It does not do it throughout the day or multiple times. I have owned the car for almost two years and it has always done this. I cannot find anything in the manual. After reading it over, I thought it might have been the TCL (traction control) performing a check on it, but turns out my car is not equipped with it! So much for that theory. Any thoughts?
