The 'Bu LTZ has leather and a couple more bells and whistles that I didn't feel I needed (and will probably be priced like an Aura XR loaded at about $27 to 28K). The 'Bu 2LT didn't have 18" rims and some other extras that the Aura XR has so I'm diving in. This will be my first GM car (always been a Toyota, Honda, Mazda family) so I hope it goes well.

| (as of August 17). Is it possible to remove the rear head restraints? I didn't see anything about this in the owner's manual, and when I tried to remove them completely by holding the little button in, I couldn't remove the rear headrests. I would think since the seatbacks fold down, these could be removed--but maybe I am wrong! Otherwise, first impressions are that the car is very solid, with great steering and flat cornering. Feels Germanic in that respect. Also, the fit an finish is very good--I only found one piece of dash trim misaligned, which hopefully will be easy to fix. I appreciate the illuminated door switches, trip computer, and gas struts for the hood. I wished I'd gotten factory XM and 6-disc, both of which apparently are expensive/impossible to add now. I have the XE, Berry Red w/grey leather. A great-looking car, IMHO. | |

Replying to: mtoogs (Aug 31, 2007 5:16 pm) On a side note, does anyone have the rubberized center armrest for the XR? It shows scuff marks very easily. Dealer said they'd replace it but I think I'm going to have to get it replaced over and over again. The car has less than 150 miles on it but lots of scuffs on the center armrest. Thanks for all the comments guys. They really pushed me to this car, even though I was holding out for the Malibu (just announced pricing of $26,995 on the LTZ which is in line for a top of the line XR at $27,319).

Replying to: noles200 (Aug 31, 2007 6:52 pm) I mainly got it over Malibu due to it being more uncommon. The Malibu is likely to be a huge seller but I like it nearly as much, if not slightly more than Aura.

I too like the Malibu look slightly more than the Aura but I don't think they'll deal on the Malibu initially, especially not giving a $2,500 incentive right off the bat. Maybe a year from now but I wanted a new car now, not next year. As for your other comments. I never really used the map pockets in my other car so it doesn't bother me too much. Trunk opening doesn't bother me either. Ride is the best and the kids love the back seat radio controls and headsets. |
