The Royaum is the old Statesman.
Thats the car that Lutz blew his shorts over and was responsible for getting the GTO project off the ground.
The China boys will be getting the new WM Statesman.
There are two models here, Statesman and Caprice.
One of them, I forget which one offhand is a sportier version. Body kit etc:
The G8 is based on the Holden Commodore SS, which is a bloody good car.
The Staties have a longer wheelbase.
Saw one yesterday with 20"s on it, nice
Guys who don't know much about any of these cars, go check out the website, www.holden.com.au
ps, Had a look at those WM Statie pics Rocky.
If you click on the Caprice link you can see that the Caprice is the more sportier looking one.
Guys, those pics don't really give a good indication of the shear size of the Statesman.
I'll tell you now, It's bigger than a Chrysler 300c.
You know, that gangster car looking thing, we have them here as well.

Yup mate you cleared the air. The Staties are bloody nice. I also do like the Royaum and both would be nice cars for americans under the G10/Lucerne badges.
-Love the Aussie/British language.
Here in the U.S. we have to watch out for deer. I would probably crash mate from shock watching a Kangaroo bounce across my road as it would be so bloody awkward.

It's worse when the bastard Roos bounce along the road.
You never know which way they will hop!
I once counted about 50 fresh killed Roos between Cairns and Townsville one night.
The big Semi Trailers just mow them down.
We have some massive trucks here,
I'll post a vid of one.
That Royaum is no longer made, that was the old one.

You should try overtaking one of these monsters.

1st time I got behind one of these and moved over
to pass it, I saw how long it was and nearly
Blessed to the God of acceleration

the twin top holden looks a lot like the G6 Pontiac hardtop convertible.
Just how much can GM import?

GM, is going to build most of these cars in the States or in Canada, in the future. They have to get the factory's ready "retooled" which takes time to make it work and I think deep down GM, wants to test the market again before putting millions into another factory. The GTO, didn't sell as well as expected thus they want to be sure the G8 will be a hit.

"The GTO, didn't sell as well as expected thus they want to be sure the G8 will be a hit."
From what I've seen and read about the new G8 cars, I think they'll be a hit. Young and middle-aged enthusiasts are wanting a RWD performance car to be built, and sold for a reasonable price. My daughter is one of them. On the other hand, her father would be content with a FWD Buick (need comfortable seats) that's happens to have a V8, specifically the 5.3 with 303 horses.
