Hi, new to this forum. I have a 2000 Suburban LT. Last week after filling up in the morning, when I tried to start it in the evening time, it wouldn't start. I happen again last Saturday. I filled up, drove then stopped. When I tried to start it, it wouldn't start. My husband thinks it's a vapor lock. He took the gas cap off and raised the hood. After 5 - 10 minutes it did start. As I remember, this has happen before (a few times) but not so close together. I had the battery replaced Dec 2002 and haven't check it since. I read the thread about the after market alarm system and I do have one (Excalibur, installed April 2000 after buying SUV in Feb 2000). Did you have the alarm system removed? The alarm system does cause my Security light to come on and stay on from time to time and my back doors somtimes don't lock.......

I've got a '97 Suburban with the same problem and this is fairly common on most years of Burbs with the ABS braking systems. GM is aware of the problem and so is the NHTSB, which is considering issuing a safety recall. Mine has been doing it since the very first week I brought it home in May of '97. I now have around 85,000 on it and it still does the same thing, ABS kicks in at low speeds (even on dry pavement) and vehicle keeps going after applying the brakes. I use my left foot when this happens to apply the brake while giving it a little gas to rev the engine back up, which makes it stop. My dealership replaced all the sensors and it didn't change a thing, so unless you're willing to replace the main ABS brake unit (computer), it likely won't get any better soon. I'm waiting for a GM recall, but in the mean time, I don't tailgate and leave some extra room for stopping. So far no accidents! It isn't caused by the wheels being out of balance or worn shocks either, as I get my tires balanced and rotated every 3k miles and have performance Bilstein shocks recently installed, and still the abs acts up.

#365 of 1035 Headlights on all the time!! by burbmom

I have a 2000 suburban LT with 64k on it and just started having a problem with the headlights staying on all the time. The day time running lamps aren't even coming on.
I was wondering of anyone else has had this happen to them? I called Onstar and they ran a diagnostic but nothing came up. I did though manage to find out how to disable the automatic headlights and go manual ,but want to know how to fix this properly. Any suggestions?? I really don't want to have to go to the dealer if i don't have to.
                          Thanks~

#366 of 1035 94 Sub. 2500 - Loss of power steering & brakes. Yikes!!! by pinklady

Sep 23, 2005 (7:29 am)

I hope somebody may have an idea of what kind of gremlins may have overtaken our truck! We have a '94 Suburban 2500 with a 454 engine. Last night, while backing a trailer, my husband had the wheel turned most of the way to the left. He heard a small thump under the hood & then the power steering was gone. At the same time, the power brakes when out! He checked the ps pump & it had fluid & appeared to be OK. Master cylinder is OK, too. Any ideas? My brother-in-law suspects the rack may have gone out, but can't understand why the brakes would be affected at the same time (he hasn't actually had a chance to look at it, but made that guess based upon what we told him. . .). THANKS for any suggestions you may have!!!

That is an excellent suggestion, except we are 7 hours from the dealer and I have 3 kids. Of course, turn my 3 kids loose in the dealership and they will scream for mercy...Does anyone know a number or address I can write to to get someone who will listen/care?

What does everyone think of the new 2007 Tahoe? I don't like it. The interior is sharp, but the outside is too soft, like a bigger Trailblazer or Uplander van. I like the current version that looks more like a "truck", but the chrome bumpers and everything. Maybe the GMC or Cadillac versions will be better looking.

The sensor that decides whether your lights should be on or off (in automatic mode) is located in the middle of your dash board, closest to the windshield (it looks like a raise dark bump). It could be covered, dirty or bad. I'm not sure where the wires are to check if it works or not, but this could be the cause if your lights are on (in automatic mode) all the time. Good Luck!
