Not sure where you are located but I would offer Invoice minus the rebate if it were me because of the large inventory levels near me. There seems to be a lot of inventory in my area (Socal) and if 0% comes out before the end of the year, Im emailing all dealerships and getting a price locked in.

Walk in and offer 37485 OTD - if they dont take it walk.. They will call you back.

Looks like you are getting a nice tahoe for 7k under msrp.

Thanks for your answer, Im in NJ and a few of the dealerships seem to have two or three cars per dealership floating around. I will post my results.

Im no expert but based upon my readings around these parts, i would search via the chevy site to see what inventory exists at each dealer within 50 miles of your location and start sending emails for price quotes on specific cars.

Maybe even go into another dealer, get a business card, write a number down on it and go to the dealer in question, stating you received the following price on the back of the business card from a competing dealer. A bit of a snake move but wth - and hopefully the nonsense going on with GM further fuels deals.

Saw the following posted in another thread:
Kickingtires.net reports that GM has 67 days of inventory left at its current rate of sales.

Just an FYI, inventory levels seem pretty low in the mountain region. 6-12 tahoes not uncommon.

Tahoe aged inventory incentives?? is it too late?? by otti

I noticed that the 3K consumer rebate Chevy has for the tahoe is still good until 10/1/07 but i also noticed that the aged inventory 3k manufacturer to dealer incentive is no longer on Edmunds. I am currently working with a dealer that is helping me find an "aged" 2007 Tahoe.

Does anyone know if this incentive is still valid? Is there anywhere else to check besides edmunds or can i call Chevy directly?

I hope I didn't miss out on this nice additional 3K

otti - I just checked with my dealer contact, and he confirmed that yes, the "aged" mfr-to-dealer incentive is gone now. Sorry. He did give me a heads-up as to post 10/1 incentives, though. Still no attractive financing - in fact, he says that GM is determined not to offer 0% any time soon since it is so expensive for them - but there is going to be "certificate" money which allows them to offer as much as $4K in customer cash. In fact, he says they can offer the certificate money right now if they want. I might be pulling the trigger soon, as the difference between $4K in rebate and 0% financing is only about $30/month.

First Time Car Buyer by b_man07

Hi,

I'm a first time car buyer and I've decided that I am dead set on getting one of these Tahoes (after lots of saving).

Really the only specification that I want is leather seats and a black vehicle. I have had a dealer tell me that it would be "cheaper" for me to get an LS (vs. LT) and have them install the leather for me. Is this a good idea?

I'm in Houston and there seems to be a ton of tahoes at every dealer I go to. It seems to be a good time to buy considering the 08's are here and inventories appear to be high....Any feedback for a first time buyer is greatly appreciated....My head is already starting to spin and I've only been to a couple of dealers....brian

As long as your dealer is using a reputable local shop for the leather you will probably get a better quality job than what comes from the factory....and cheaper too.

Thanks for the info. This is valuable. In your opinion assuming the dealer offers the 4K customer cash back with the "Certificate" would I still be able to get additional discounts via negotiations with the dealers?

OK, this is getting stranger by the minute. I just got a call from my dealer (and this guy is the sales mgr) saying that GM had reversed course on everything they had told him yesterday, and that GM was now offering 0%/60 IMMEDIATELY on 07 Tahoes. Like, today. This is in lieu of rebates, so it's an either/or situation. But on a 5-year loan, you would have to get $6K in rebates to do better than 0%. Act fast, because apparently this is a 4-day only deal, expiring 10/1. Not sure what the program will be afterwards.

Otti - FYI, in pricing, I was able to get $600 below invoice, before any rebates. Now, keep in mind that this is because my dealer contact is a "guy" of one my father-in-law's friends, and he gives us his best deal without having to haggle with him. But, just to price check I've been getting quotes from other dealers, and they've been leading off with $1000-$1500 above invoice. I imagine that if I had negotiated with them I would have gotten them lower. You can probably get dealers down to invoice just by working one against the other. Get some internet quotes, and tell them that Dealer X is offering you a certain number, and get them to match it.
