LS is about being smooth, powerful, and quiet. Why would anyone wnat a tighter suspension. Or oversize touring tires?

... housekeeping!

In an attempt to make it easier to follow the LS 460 discussions, I have renamed this board and moved all the LS 400 and LS 430 discussions to a new board here: Lexus LS 400/LS 430. There are a few discussions shared across both boards (one example: Meet the Members).

If you were tracking any discussion I moved, I believe you will have to re-track it now. You can go to that link and check them out.

You should not have lost any of the discussions you were tracking in this group, nor should you have lost tracking of the entire group, if that's what you were doing.

If you are not tracking the entire group, I again urge you do so here so you don't miss anything. I encourage you to make new discussions for different LS 460 topics and I will be doing the same.

If you have logistical questions, feel free to email me or post them in the Software discussion.

Carry on!

It's beyond me why anybody would change the dynamics of this car with any wheel changes not available through Lexus. Engineers have spent millions matching the suspension with wheels and tires that optimize the handling characteristics of this expensive car. You can't improve it - only screw it up with any aftermarket changes at all.

I recently attended the LS460 debut at Portland, OR's Rose Garden - a very nice event.

After climbing in and comparing SWB and LWB models, and returning home, I could not find where Lexus provides any comparitive figures on legroom measurements on the LS460, other than obvious vehicle total lengths.

Edmunds does provide the following data for my wife's '05 Avalon which she thoroughly enjoys: front legroom - 41.3"; rear legroom - 40.9" - one of the highlights of the Avalon is back seat legroom.

I am considering getting her an LS460, but I know she would not be pleased if the SWB has less legroom than her Avalon. - thus it would have to be the LWB model.

For compative purposes I would like to know how legroom in the two LS460's stacks up with her Avalon.

Has anyone found where Lexus provides the same information for LS460 models, and how front and rear legroom measurements are determined?

Perhaps our esteemed HOST can forward this to the appropriate engineer.

LOL, you're giving us a lot of "street cred" presuming that we're in e-mail contact with manufacturers' engineers. Hopefully, one of our very knowledgeable members can help locate an answer to your question.

These are not aftermarket offerings. They are factory options. Touring suspensions and large 19 " tires. What makes them so good for touring. I want quiet comfort.

Um, you must be responding to nvbanker, "Lexus LS 460/LS 460L: Styling Impressions" #3260, 31 Oct 2006 4:37 pm, not me, right?
