Land Rover Range Rover Sport, SUV
Aug 09, 2006 (10:02 am)
I just celebrated my first anniversary with my Sport S/C. I have only had small issues with the car--the wipers and a check engine light that came on.
Land Rover sent me a travel bag for my anniversary along with a discount coupon for a 2006 Range Rover. I also just received an issue of their magazine. I am glad that I bought the vehicle.
I have black/black and wouldn't mind having a lighter color. I am tempted to order a 2007.
#538 of 667 "Ticking" Noise

I have 3k miles on my 2006 RRS and it is still making the small "ticking" sounds. I was told this would go away around 3k miles by the dealer and it hasn't. If I roll down the window while the car is slowly moving it still "ticks". It is most evident when I turn the car off. I thought it was just the car "cooling" down but now I don't know. Has anyone else experienced similar problems? Besides this noise the car has been great. Thank you in advance for your replys.

Took delivery of my sport with lux. package on Saturday. Drove it 250 miles since. I love this thing. I have the normally aspirated engine, and it doesn't need any more kick, it sounds great, and it is velvet smooth.
I had a Discovery the past four years, and never had a single issue, and never had to take it in except for routine interval maintenance. So, I just don't get all this hand wringing and crying about Land Rovers quality. I'm either the luckiest guy alive or there is alot of BS flying around.
At any rate I loved the drive my Disco had with ACE, but this Sport just beats that hands down...the most pleasurable vehicle I've ever driven. My wife has a Yukon and it drives like a marshmallow compared to my Disco, and shouldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as the Sport.
If you are worried about LR reliability as I was before I purchased my Disco, just go up to a few owners when you see them in a parking lot and ask them first hand. What I got out of that was polar opposite from what I read on the web.

Looking to buy an SUV soon (looking at the RRS (HSE), X5 (4.4) and Q7) and have a RRS question that I probably should care what the answer is but I'll ask it anyways. Does the HSE really get between 14-19 mpg? I've heard it actually worse. What has your experience been?

I have had my RRS since Nov and it has had a lot of problems. It started simple with a check engine light one week after I had it home. It then started with losing power as I drove. It does not accelerate when you take off. I have the pedal to the metal so to speak and the car chugs along at 5mph then kicks in and you jerk back. It had been at the dealer 3 times for this issue, this time for a week and they say it is fixed. I am picking it up tomorrow. Has anyone else had this problem. They tell me it is a computer issue. I have 2 young children and don't feel safe driving this car. Pulling out into traffic is an issue and so is merging on a highway.

I am averaging anywhere from 14-15 mpg since I got my RRS in May. I have 3,500 miles on it and the only thing I have noticed wrong with the car is this ticking noise it makes which is most noticeable when the car is shut off. It eventually will stop after a 2-3 minutes. The funny thing is that it still makes the noise when the car is running if you listen very carefully. I took it to the dealer 2x and they said it is normal especially in all the new Land Rover and Jaguar engines. I find this strange does anyone know if this is true? Anyone else experiencing this problem? The dealer says it should go away in a year or two. I think this is very weird. I have never had a car do this in my life. Besides this noise I love it. I highly recommend it to everyone thinking about a suv.

I am interested in the RRS SuperCharged model. I have heard that there are reliability issues with the car. Please let me know if this is true or not? Tell me about your experience. Thanks

So how long do you think my exhaust will be making this noise for? 1yr? Longer? Also, is it normal for the exhaust to make that noise while the car is running and actually moving along the streets and not only when it is turned off? I am concerned because I have never had a new car do this in the past. Thanks for your reply british rover.
