....my neighbors had one when I was a kid, they had no children (traded in a '72 Malibu coupe for one, strange). Burgandy w/tan interior, very pretty car, and the husband, at least, loved it. I assume they don't suffer from the same woes that other Triumphs (Spitfire especially) suffered from?

Replying to: explorerx4 (Jun 25, 2009 3:41 pm) The TRs don't look too bad for the money...the $13K one had better be real nice for that price, but I've seen higher. The MGB might be a very good deal. It's hard to say with British cars, you have to see them in person. There's so much that could be wrong with them even if they look good.   On the positive side, these are simple cars to restore (presuming no extensive rust) and you can buy just about every part you need. You can even buy an entirely new body for the MGB.   TR6 is a fun car. Weak point is the anchoring point for the differential mount. It can rip out of the chassis (that's not good in case you were wondering). Torquey engine, the usual punishing British ride. Primitive as a dog cart but way fun cars.

We would chase each other through some of the back roads in the area - him in his TR-6, and me in my Z-28. That was back before the roads became so gawd awfully crowded.   Me and him used to work on our cars, usually in my dad's garage. And of course, we always had a couple of cold ones handy. Well, one day we were bleeding his brakes and he sat the container of brake fluid down right next to his bottle of beer. Without looking he reached over, grabbed the first thing his hand came in contact with, and took a swig. Yep, you guessed it - brake fluid. Luckily, he was no worse for the experience.

Click once to start the process, then paste your link in after it. When you click the "URL" button a second time to close it, there is a piece of text added that says "link title". Highlight and type in the text you want to show up in the finished message.   EDIT: The sentence Highlight and type in the text you want to show up in the finished message. should read Highlight and replace the text "link title" with the text you want to show up in the finished message.

That Country Squire looks amazing - the seller says it right, buy one rather than restore it yourself, and a Vista Cruiser is always cool. I also have a thing for vintage fog lights on period cars (my old car has them too), so I like that Pontiac as well, nicely optioned. I don't know why that 57 Buick has "new tires" that aren't wide whites - I hate it when people get the most obvious details wrong - laziness or cheapness, one of the two. The Corvair is cool too - you never see those wagons anymore.   The wire wheels on that 53 Buick seem a bit garish for a wagon - I can't imagine it having those when new, seems like a convertible option. 12 grand for an air horn system from a 61 International? The 62 Chrysler could be saved easily enough it looks like, and it's a shame the Buick with claimed celebrity provenance (I would like to see the proof) was modified like that.

I rejected the offer simply because I knew his car wouldn't fit in my garage. Also, I'd have had to really really go over his car with a fine-toothed comb. Who knows what issues it might've had. They are complex cars for their time, and you can't just call up Year One and order a fender or trim pieces.   '57 Caballero -- not a bad car, but not a #1, so the price now offered, in the low 20s, is close to being correct. I'm predicting around $25000 top bid. If he's looking for $30K, he should be doing more detail work on the car---especially the engine bay, which is deplorable. He's already painted and re-upholstered it, so let's not plead "virginity" here.   International Ambulance --BIN price is sheer lunacy. Somebody is way out of touch.
