when we moved in our house 10+ years ago, every room was an off white color.
now there are 19 different colors, plus a couple of closets that i painted with a color that i didn't use as originally intended.
paint is cheap. go for it. i recommend priming first.
the walls look a lot flatter when the finish paint is applied.
some of the colors are reproductions of old colonial colors, so i guess it was decided to hold them, not fold them.

it wasn't all my choice and most of the colors are not bold.
my wife doesn't like my favorite color, but i managed to save it in a small area.
