Hey Shifty

They did indeed make a yellow miata in 1992 (I believe it was exclusive to that year). The paint was called Sunburst Yellow. If memory serves, they applied the yellow paint over a standard white miata. It's a pretty rare color with only 1500 or so cars painted that color.

Okay thanks for that. I do vaguely recall that color name but I rarely see a yellow miata. Some people tell me the hardtop alone is worth $1,000 bucks. I could always sell it.

You could sell it, but who would want a yellow Miata hardtop?

Sunburst Yellow was exclusive to that year , so it is somewhat desirable. The 1.8L did not come along until 1994. If you are a stickler for authenticity the stereo is not original.

It looks pretty good for 144k, the seats must have been redone at some point.

That's right----hardtops would be good for Spec Miata I guess!

I was trying to think what body color would look good with a yellow hardtop, where you didn't have to paint it.

Green body/ yellow hardtop?

Black/yellow?

That's about it unless you want to look really weird!

That thing's actually kinda neat, but those front seats bother me. Looking through the brochure, it looks like they can be moved into a variety of positions. I'm guessing they wouldn't be too stable in an accident!

Seems to me the thing would be downright dangerous with an Olds 455 tucked in it!

My mechanic called me today, and wanted me to swing by during lunch to see the car. He found another problem with it. I had decided to have him replace the windshield, and sure enough, when he pulled it out, the area around the bottom of the windshield, which had been hidden by the bottom of the glass and the trim, was horribly rusted. It's not to the point that it's weakening the car...yet. Thankfully, he'll be able to fix it.

He said the car might be ready by the end of the week, although I think that's a bit optimistic! I still don't know what the final total's going to be, but at this point I'm in it about $4100.
