"...according to another B9 forums poll 66% of ppl paid MSRP and only 33% below MSRP..." I'd love to know where this poll is from and the sample size. I've suspected MSRP prices are holding up, based on the research I did in May, finding about 12 of 16 dealers queried thru Edmunds holding at MSRP price for pre-orders. Found a couple discounting $1000 or so off MSRP, and only a 2 of 16 discussing "over invoice" pricing. That was when they were throwing in the tow packages, etc. from SOA, but also before many good reviews. Feel I got a pretty good deal on the best vehicle I've ever purchased at $800 over, Limited w/ NAV, tow & crossbars. The comments / mood at my dealer makes me think they are very pleased with sales and their average price. I've asked alot of questions, and so have they, about impressions, NAV, break-in issues. Being one of their first Tribeca purchasers, I'm kinda their "Beta-guy." The "$500 over" deals posted are probably about the best ones out there, IMO, & the happy recipients of such deals are the most anxious to share. Free oil changes for life?...Free tires? I think this is rare. You've found great dealers, stick with 'em. I did get a really cool FREE Subaru Electronic Tire Guage! Yeah! Leaving on a two week tour of the Northwoods soon, giving the new Tribeca a real workout for the first time. Will be loaded down with carrier and heavy bike rack, and am anxious to see MPG. Will report. The NAV, while already in need of an update for some recently improved roads, restaurant changes, etc. amazingly had our very remote MN cabin, far from anywhere, plotted and dailed in, complete with our cove on the lake. If ANYONE knows how to defeat the Major Pain In The A** seat belt chimes, PLEASE let us know soon. Just sitting in my driveway programming a few destinations requires a seat belt. Very annoying, and hard to just ignore. The rapid plug-unplug doesn't work. Where's the wire...I'll snip it myself! "Dust In The Wind"...????....Great Song, but WAY too 1970's for this progressive SUV of the future. The conotations look back, not forward. I was thinking "VROOOM" by King Crimson! |

Replying to: newsubu (Jul 10, 2005 9:03 am) however ... it's just about the 'right' era of music for people with the $$ to be buying these vehicles! It's not going to be the 20 somethings .... besides ... you know Bill and Ted gave "dust in the wind" all new meaning for another generation! |

Let me know...I'm a teacher, and I aim to be clear and concise. members.cox.net/kamartin/seatbelt.html -Karen in AZ--currently in MT |

Replying to: kmartin (Jul 10, 2005 1:15 pm) thats funny, when I called my dealer they said that the trick doesn't work on new outbacks nor on the Tribeca and that they agree it is annoying but don't know how to disable it yet. I'm not denying you got it to work but you are one of the rare lucky ones as noone else seems to have gotten it to work including again the dealership service dept. i spoke too. I guess its possible it works on some Tribecas but not others? 1. Turn the key to “ON” (not running, necessarily). 2. Fasten and unfasten the driver’s seat belt 20 times within 30 seconds. (This will set the passenger seat as well). 3. Setting lasts until the battery is disconnected or the system is otherwise reset. 4. If you want to do this as a temporary thing (just for one driving period), fasten/unfasten the belt 3 times in 6 seconds. The chime will reset the next time the car is started. what step could we be skipping? I think the only thing that could be unclear is whether to turn the engine on or just turn the key to on without turning on engine as you say "(not running neccesarily)" which would lead one to believe that it works both ways. Either way I've tried both and other possibilities and none work You are the only one I have seen claim to have gotten it to work. Maybe you are leaving something out. What model options do you have? do you do it before or after you hit agree on the NAV? etc. |

That stat is based on 3 responses. Not what I'd call a valid sample size. |

Replying to: kmartin (Jul 10, 2005 1:15 pm) I turned the key to on (I did not start the vehicle) I did not touch the NAV screen I rapidly clicked and unclicked the driver's side seatbelt 20 times within 30 secs I undid the seatbelt and just sat there..... no chime Then I started the car..... no chime I drove around the block..... nothing I guess it worked. It never had before, and the only thing I may have done differently is that I turned the key to ON without starting the vehicle Randy
