One of my relatives has a Toyota Sienna, and it will play movies on the front screen. Has surround sound too. Pretty sweet setup.

Yes, you need NAV to get the front screen.

My new tribeca engine light came on. Drove to the dealer and after 5 hours, they found it was a lose ground wire. No big deal, but the 5 hours are lost. While I was there I spoke to the service dept. about adding Ipods and Sat. Radio. They all agreed it SHOULD BE POSSIBLE, but not to expect help from Subaru. As someone else posted, it's a non-factory authorized modification. They also felt that I should be patient. Few people, if any, have cracked open the radio system and they hadn't even seen the setup yet. My Tribeca was the 1st they'd worked on. So the good news: We should be able to use the AUX button to use an Ipod in NON Dvd cars. The bad news: We'll have to wait a bit for the correct info to trickle down.
On the way home from the service center I accidently hit a lake of a puddle getting off an exit. It was dramatic, but my old 99 outback would never have managed it's way through with so little fuss. There was just a nudge of the wheel and the car didn't pull at all. Excellent. Brakes are also great, even in the rain.

We decided not to add the DVD system. Reasons? We're adding an even better system with 3 screens and two players for less than the factory version. Rear screens will be for the kids. Front 7 inch visor screen will play Blade Runner or whatever else we want. You can always get better after market audio and video for less. Sadly, we're a bit limited on audio head units due to the layout of the dash, but we can go crazy with upscale video. I even looked at an overhead system that was better than stock for 1100.00 installed. Again, waiting for the radio mod for it all. Patience will pay.

Say Hi to all my friends in Provo!! Glad you found a computer at the hotel and thanks for the update... I go in for my first oil change on Monday... just turned 3,000 today and got 22.8 MPG on a 600 mile trip myself. AVG speed was about 70+ on the highway.

I agree with the stares... I got a ton of em' today and just waved!

Champagne Gold by coaster

I am trying to find a photo (true color representation) of a Champagne Gold Opal Tribeca on the internet. Everyone seems to use the stock Subaru photos which are mainly of the silver and ?. I saw an Outback in Champagne Gold Opal on the lot and it looked great but none of the photos of the Tribeca seem to be near that color, not even the one in the brochure. The color chip in the brochure is much closer than the photo of the car in CGO but it still looks darker, as do most of the chips.
If I decide to order the Tribeca soon I want to see that color on the Tribeca, not on another model.
So any leads would be welcome.

krusty,
Yeah, I didn't expect the dealer to refund money after the deal. I expected him to lower the price when I was sitting there with him negotiating the deal. Problem was he assumed that it was set in stone just because he informed me of the numbers over the phone which I never agreed to. I guess he wanted me to negotiate the deal before he went out to get the car not on the day i came to pick it up but still that should be my choice and I just wanted them to get it there so then I had the ball in my court that they would be stuck with it and there I was prepared to pay in full that day if they would just lower the price a little considering I was armed with many facts, examples and invoice price.

Again, I think they/he called my bluff a little that I would walk out on the deal for several reasons but I let him know I was disappointed, but then just didn't want to make a problem. I kept asking for options and he threw in 2 for free but we'll see about the rest. So I am not asking for a refund at this point, just some options for free to amount to what turns out to be the 1500-2000 I overpaid. I have a feeling he/they will continue to be stubborn about it at which point I will be shopping around for the options and then letting them know that its pretty sad that dealerships that I didn't even buy the car from are offering me better price on some of the options.

I also may consider not giving them the business of taking it there for service especailly since its not neccesarily my only or closest Subaru dealership so I still have power in that respect even after the sale and we'll see how they handle it. Also, I don't want to prove myself as being overly picky or cheap but just so you don't neccesarily think I "overpaid" either, I did get the best deal on a Tribeca that any dealer in the area has given and according to another B9 forums poll 66% of ppl paid MSRP and only 33% below MSRP which some of those could be only 500 below msrp while I got 1000 so I'm still in the 33% Nationwide i guess, as I'm assuming the poll is of ppl from all over on that site.

But still at the same time I do see others at Fitzmall comparibly equipped to mine including one almost exact at only $4 more msrp then mine and Fitz's final price is about 1500 less then I paid, so I'm also not crazy to think I overpaid a little. We'll see how they handle it from here but generally a smart customer who knows his facts and tries to haggle is despised and they act pretty shady about it. They like dumb ppl who pay whatever they say.

Anyway moving on to other and more positive things that maybe I should make separate post about.... THE SEATBELT CHIME. How do you get rid of it. Poster here Karen has directions on her site that worked on the Outback and supposedly for the Tribeca as well but they do not. I even called service dept. para my dealers advice that they would tell me how and they said that the click seat belt in and out 3 time for one time defeat or 20 in 30 sec. or whatever for permanent does not work on the new Outbacks even and not on the Tribeca at all and they didn't know of another way, they also agreed it was annoying and they should have kept how it used to be on older modles when it chimes in the beginning and then thats it instead of the chiming that keeps coming back. SO PLEASE HOW DO WE GET THE SEATBELT CHIME OFF? I have no problem wearing it and know the importance etc. but its really annoying when it chimes when you first turn on your car and are in your garage or whatever or even when parked! It doesnt' even wait till your moving, its really over doing it with the chime and way more of a nuisance then it is any help.

On a more positve note I want to say that the B9 handles amazingly even in the rain. Especailly compared to the Pathfinder i came out of which i whipped like a sports car anyway but i can take corners much faster with the Tribeca and I believe that it beat out the Murano in handling. It might even be close or equal to the Infiniti FX in handling but looks much more SUV like then that and better rear visibility so its the best of all worlds. I would like the 3.5L V6 with 280 hp that the FX35 has as I think that was the most hp out of a v6 in an suv i knew of but now Toyota is getting way more power and HP etc. out of their hybrid SUV (Lexus RX 400H & Toyota HIghlander Hybrid) that use a v6 in conjunction with the electric which to me is the way to go for the future and not a gas guzzling v8. In fact on a negative note, my info shows i'm only getting like 15. something avg. mpg which is pretty bad though it most be all the stop and go driving around the neighborhoods etc and combination of how I drive (often above 3 rpms etc.) and on top of that I've noticed what I heard that it has an on the smaller side gas tank and sure enough it seems I have to fill it up more often then I did even the Pathfinder. Full tank doesn't even last me a week, not good, and at $2.53/gallon for 93 octane even worse as they recommend 91 but there is only 87, 89, and 93 octane. I think eventually I will switch down to 89 after it isn't so new. I used to put in 93 my whole life mostly believing it was better gas mileage and performacne etc. as it seems some ppl even here still say when it came up but I have a friend who works with cars and knows a lot about them and drives a mercedes and only puts in the lowest 87 octane gas and says they are all the same and that its all BS and waste of money to put in the more expensive supposedly higher octane gas so go figure. Luckily my parents have a RX 400 H and getting a Highlander Hybrid so if this 15mpg avg. and high gas prices keep up I may have to trade with them as I have a longer commute/more travel etc.

last note, Anyone get the splash guards yet? how do they look? Moonroof wind deflector anyone? What about the hood protector? I thought that actually took away from the looks and would be ugly but now i'm thinking it may add some interest to the plain looking area between hood and grill and lift it up a little or give it a more substantail front nose look as it slopes down pretty dramatically for an SUV. I'm thinking about almost all of the options now as even the expensive and what i thought useless front bumper underguard might look cool and i guess prevent scraping there as again, its a little low. Btw speaking of the car like looks of the FX, its interesting the B9 with its swooping down look even fromt the front of the moonroof and then especailly the hood and nose gives it a more car like front lowered look which concerned me at first but then I realize it really is almost the best of the FX sporty car like look with the side and back looking more substantial and SUV like.

Washed Beca for the first time today as it was her 1 week anniversary with me, heh. Her curves are so nice to wash with a wash mit, hah. Coming out in a parking lot and seeing her parked in a far away spot away from everyone else all clean tires shined, and hitting unlock and seeing her wink her side mirrors at me and beckon me with soft blue puddle lights never gets old and its amazing how big Beca looks from the side compared to say an FX or Murano. Its weird like I said the B9 really looks diff size and shape from different angles and in diff situations. Overall I love and stare at her a lot and find myself checking on her in the garage.

Also as if this post can't get any longer. I did know also of an online company that did sell basically the factory rims except all chrome, I imagine dipped or whatever? I dont know if this would be good for winters on the North Atlantic Coast and especially if they make you send them your factory rims then you wouldn't be able to switch back which would be a pain anyway to have rims switched even once every season but I remember for the path they offered even just the center cap alone so I am thinking of doing that especially if it would white out or eliminate the Subaru symbol on the wheel cap as its enough with the symbol on the front and back (phew what a run on sentance). At least all chrome subie symbol on center cap instead of blue wouldn't be as noticeable.

I will look up that particular company and repost it since i saw ppl asking about the chrome rims.
