Subaru emailed me today and sent what was essentially a form letter saying that you can't connect an Ipod to ANY Tribeca. Now we know this is not true, since it's certainly possible on models with the DVD. So clearly I got some schmo who just send quick replies. I responded as follows... This really doesn't make sense to me. This is the identical unit used in the model with the DVD system and the RSE/Aux button is there and working. This means that the circuitry is there and most probably the connections. My dealer confirms this. Why not provide a method to allow those connections to be used, or at least a schematic so that a service center can do the job? I'm aware that a good tech can probably do this, but everyone benefits if Subaru gets involved with the process. I'd like to add that MANY people use Ipods, Sat. radio and other devices in their cars and this is a very fundamental requirement these days. We spent more than 36 thousand dollars on our Tribeca and we'd really like some technical help. I understand that there's no obvious method, but the stereo is capable 100% of handling an AUX device by design. Can you forward this e-mail to a person who can offer the support we need? We'll see how they respond. Meanwhile, I'm calling my local SOA Service center tomorrow to talk over the problem with them. I'm determined to find a fix. I really don't want to use FM modulators on a DVD system or Sat. Radio. The button is there. We should be able to use it! Robert B, NY 2006 Tribeca, 5 Pass Limited Atlantic Blue

Replying to: kens (Jul 07, 2005 1:08 pm) I (reluctantly) traded my 99 Forester for an 05 OB 2.5i a year ago. When the B9 came along, I knew I needed something bigger than the OB, and I gave it up for more leg room and more oomph. Loving every minute in the Tribeca and looking forward to heading up to Montana in it tomorrow. Hope it's OK with host Steve that I post my reviews page for the last time for a couple of weeks or so. I don't want to clutter up the site with links, but the reviews are there for you all to read and enjoy. Let me know if I miss any while I'm gone. (What? No forums for two weeks? Argh! How will I cope?) -Karen in AZ- Reviews Links: http://members.cox.net/kamartin/2006b9tribeca.html |

I've been reading this message board for a couple of weeks now. I'm planning on buying a B9 Ltd 7 Seater w/ Nav and Atlantic Blue Pearl ext / Gray int this weekend. I had a couple of questions, however, and this board seems to be the best place to ask these. Is Subaru selling the same emissions-rated model in all 50 states or is it different in states like CA vs PA (where I currently reside)? I'm kind of environmentally consicous (yeah, yeah, I know I'm buying an SUV!) and would prefer to get the same one which is sold in CA (where I might go back sometime in the near future) where the emissions rules are stricter. I did notice the Tier 2 Bin 5 / LEV2 rating under the hood of the Tribeca I saw at my local dealer in PA. I wonder if the ones sold in CA have the same ratings. Another question I had was whether the Tribeca had a height-adjustable driver seat atleast since I'm on the shorter side. My Honda Accord EX has one and I'm very used to this feature. Would appreciate any help on the the above questions. I would also like to congratulate all the current Tribeca owners for their new cars and also would like to thank everybody in this forum for the informative posts. Kim in PA. |

Well, I saw the review, and sure enough - yet another group that could not figure out the back seat. They complain about rear seat leg space, and then fold the seat, and there is clearly the extra 4" to the 3rd row. So they didn't hit that release lever that gives you the extra 2nd row leg room. How many is that? You'd think these reviewers would be smarter than that. -juice

Replying to: ateixeira (Jul 07, 2005 5:09 pm) For the record, I am not currently using the third row seat, so I leave the 2nd row seat in the farthest-back position. Plenty of leg and hip room for three adults (as we tried recently). Well, Motor Week could always read the manual, but then I rarely do, either -Karenin AZ- |
