Replying to: longo2 (Jul 10, 2009 7:03 am) GearHead Gossip has tracked some info that the Jetta TDI is going to get a full, frame up overhaul for 2011.    If you can wait, I'd wait.   Be prepared for the possibility of a 2011 "VW Camcord" Jetta as VW has said they will "Americanize" the Jetta. Expect VW style and technology in a larger vehicle with number and dumber handling. VW is at the start of a drive to triple their sales in the US.   If I had to wait until 2011 to buy a diesel VW, a Golf or Polo would likely be my choice.   If the past is any indicator of the future, best deals on 2010 Jetta will be available from February thru April of 2010 for the 2010 model year. Replying to: moparbad (Jul 10, 2009 12:00 pm) vw is building a plant in tennessee now that will produce a sedan specifically aimed at the US buyer. it is expected to target the accord/camry/altima buyer and will likely be priced under them. there is also some wild speculation about a vw truck coming out of this plant. i dont see that happening. The color is platinum grey with everything except navigation, with 17" alloy wheels and even Michelin tires for $24k and out the door was 27k. I paid $299 for window tinting.   I tired even costco program and the dealer was not able to beat this price so I sent costco surevey and got call from them as well.   This is the best I got I even tried going 100 miles away from my place. Right now the VW Jetta is sized along with the Toyota Corolla and Hyundai Elantra, etc.   Without getting into the 'Diesel Thing', I imagine that many new car shoppers just don't get the premium prices and skimpy VW warranties on a car in that size range. Lots of VW owners have complained about the cramped space in the back seat of the Jetta, while the competition has made their cars with less trunk space and better 'people' space.   The Jetta has been slowly growing bigger over the years, but so has the rest of the compacts in that catagory. Breaking up into the Camry/Accord size and replacing the Jetta size with the 'Polo' makes good sense. It's not even that big of a jump, and if nothing else it might get Honda back to the drawing board on their own version of their well recieved EURO Accord TDI, for the N. American market.   From a car buyers point of view, I say, bring it on, the more TDI's to chose from the better.

Here in MD, I live minutes from Fitzmall and have tried 14 or so other dealers looking for a TDI DSG sportwagon. The only one willing to sell below MFG suggested window sticker price is a dealer (many miles away) selling a stripped model without sunroof, etc. I am so mad, I hope they all go out of business! The whole idea of supply and demand makes me want to buy a bicycle (if work were not so far). Replying to: johnnybumps (Jul 16, 2009 8:45 am) I live in Georgia. Went to the dealer on Saturday. They have only 2 Sportwagen TDIs in stock. They will not get anymore until the 2010's arrive. So they're unlikely to deal on cars that are in high demand, with months to go before new stock arrives.

Replying to: johnnybumps (Jul 16, 2009 8:45 am) I think that VW was caught with their pants down on the Sportswagen TDI. When they sell 80% diesel in a given model it throws them all off. They did not think the American buyer was that savvy. Hopefully they catch up with demand soon. I have thought of one but am hoping they will put the same engine in the Tiguan. I want more ground clearance.

They still think they are in control, at least for me if this keeps up they all can control who will be the last employee to turn off the lights! I can set on the cash payment.
