Dont worry, with this recession, dealers will soon come to their senses! OR VWoA will do it for them! The Engineering Department at VW has worked their butt's off on this 50 State Compliant Clean Diesel. Then you get a 'BUNCH OF F***AROUND SALES PEOPLE' at the dealership trying to shaft everybody Another thing that VW is not doing is PR WORK on this FABULOUS ENGINE,the TDI!

I call back and get another lady. She asked me some questions, told me they had several of the jetta sportwagons TDIs in stock starting at $18K stripped. Those were her exact words. I said are you sure you know what car I am asking about? I went on to say I have an 09 Honda Fit Sport with about $5K of dealer add-ons and the ideal situation would be to find a VW dealer who knows of a Honda Used car dealer or Honda sales person they have dealt with and will work with them for my 09 trade so that I can get closer to what I paid, opposed to the $13,000 VW will give for the car. This lady said they only deal with the best and give top dollar or all trades, usually better than other Honda dealers will give. I proceeded to tell her abut the VW Trade-In Calculator most VW Dealerships have on their websites and she did not want to talk about that She said come on down, you can drive the JSW TDI (since I had only driven the sedan), I will let the GM know you are on your way and it is only a 20 minute drive from Salt Lake. So the 20 minute drive took 40 minutes and there was no traffic. being in Salt Lake for 10 years, I had never been to Layton but already I was up for a few minutes but quickly realizing that I was fed a bunch of BS. Anyway, when I got to the dealer and walked into the showroom floor a lady came up to me and I told her I had talked to Carol and she told me to see the GM and I gave her my name. It turned out to be as if everything the 2 ladies on the phone told me was all BS. the GM had no idea who I was, they had no TDIs in, an on and on, telling me nothing that matched what the 2 ladies had told me. the GM was kind of cold and arrogant, I started walking away and he said, wait, I am suppose to get some in stock next week. I just said, I realy would like one of these cars but I cannot work with a group that even before I have been to the dealer had fed me so many lies and told me exactly what I wanted to hear and it all was dishonesty. and I walked out. I have been on foums and either the guys think I am a mess, they think I am a lier because I will not buy fom a dealer many other members had purchased from in PA, fly there and drive the car home that he sold them. All above MSRP, which is OK, but I was not well and definitely not able to fly 6 hours away and drive a new car 4000-5000 mi. back home. I am i Salt Lake City. I would do something like that but I would like to find a dealer in the West somewhere. so, I am not even sure if this will ever hapen. I do not beleive in "good" or "bad" luck. I think there might be another reason why this is all happening but I still want a Jetta SpotWagon TDI with panoamic sunroof, 17" tires, any color but black and open to anything else I am not too hip on the seats if indeed they do not come with cloth. I have a clearer understanding of the "leatherette" seats. I have 2 dogs and my goal, after recently being diagnosed with spinal carcinomas and gong through some tuff chemo, is to take of 2 years and just drive, park, slep with my dogs, fish, get a feeling for the change of seasons in another state, camp, fish, hike, etc. that is kind of my story. Because I have had a lot of problems with the VW dealers in Salt Lake, and even on one forum I would go to all the time, seeral of the guys were faithful Strong (a dealer in salt Lake) patrons, they realy nailed into me because things did not work out there.

Replying to: kooler (Mar 05, 2009 1:10 am) Aanyway, kooler, I hear ya. I would suggest you "expand yur radius a bit and put out the word to dealers further out that you are getting bs'd and treated like crap by the dealer closer to you and that you are a customer waiting to be served by whosoever is decent and is willing to "go the extra mile for you", which any dealer in his right mind should do, especially as economy is, etc. So, just email 3 dealers closets to you besides those jokers in layton, and tell them what you want and how you been bs'd (just very briefly). As soon as "the right people" get your mail, they should even be willing to bring you the car, etc. Just you do a bit of research on edmunds.com and get clear on the price you want to pay, based on what the invoice is...not MSRP's. Then, offer them the deal and tell them you need the car brought to you, with all the numbers and paperwork/pre-qualifying done. Or get your own financing separate from dealer, that way you buy as cash. You have plenty of reason to have car brought to you, per yur medical reasons, etc. I am sure there's someone out there willing to do that for you...it's really not that big a deal...you just been in touch with "the worng folks" for sure... Don't lose faith, email around and see who is willing to treat you like a human being in exchange for your business...I'm sure you can fond someone to drive even a few hours ... Blessings!!! ps. the TDI's all come with leatherette i believe...but you can just get a couple nice seat covers that should please you and your dogs..

Koolio, probably you would take an enormous financial beating by trading an 09 fit with $5k (!) of add-ons. Unfortunately the add-ons may not add a dime to the trade-in value no matter which dealership you go to. Jetta TDIs are awesome but honda fit is pretty nifty too, isn't it? Not as nice for highway cruising as Jetta but a nice little car. Maybe it's not worth getting so 'underwater' to get out of the 09 fit, if that's what it takes? ps - Gerson therapy/diet may be helpful to you! |

Replying to: kooler (Mar 05, 2009 1:10 am) As for the dealer you mentioned, I am not sure what you expected. You BOTH were pre qualifying each other. Evidently, neither passed each others' test. YOU may not have liked their methods/style. THEY might not have liked YOURS., Fair enough. Really both have the right to deal with whomever they wish. So if you came away with the feelings you did, I'd say move on and find what is important to you from a customer service point of view and then deal with them. (whomever "them" happens to be) ANY of the dealers you select has the ability to search the current inventory and in the worst case (to them) dealer trade to get what you seek. (or as close to) . Any dealer REALLY wants to sell current inventory. They can even pre order. (if the logistics system is either still taking orders ) Or if they just happen to cue you up on a car ready or waiting to be "hatched" so to speak from the logistics system. Deals are made ALL the time and a percentage of deals fall through. The VW product (JSW) is in short supply, so even in this HUGELY buyers market, the JSW is in a slightly more to a sellers market. I started being acquainted with it (the Wagon) starting in late 2002 and it was the same way then. So I say keep looking, Target say 4 more (total of five). All the best! |
