Bought a TDI Manual sedan with sunroof and ipod for 22,365 + $80 doc fee, msrp was 23839. Easy and no hassle deal with Chris from Langhorne PA. Chris was excellent, didn't have the car in stock, traded with another dealer. Had the car in 3 days. vlapinta |

In addition,if it was legal to bring one back,I would have to pay 6% excise tax on top of this,so that would be$34,574 CDN. I have not included the GST on both these prices,so then that would be$36,303 CDN. Anyway, southgate vw emailed me and said they made a 'mistake'on their calculation and I could have it for $28,950 plus GST,which would be $30,397CDN with the GST. I don't really think those extra's are worth $6000 CDN Good deal in USA,but not here in Canada GST is Goods and Services Tax or what is referred to as 'Gouge and Screw Tax' !!!! |

I'm at the research stage on that next new car. All over the map on what to buy. TDI intrigues me, but here's problem. In this city the one VW dealer is a known price gouger, and has a poor service rep to boot. Going to a dealer 200 miles south I can get close to or below invoice, but what about service? Thats a long way to limp down I35! Will probably take a pass on the TDI due to dealer rep. I've talked to and exchanged e-mail with them, and the attitude is, Hey we're the only game around, take-it-or-leave-it. Advice? Comments? Thanks in advance!

Replying to: gagrice (Feb 28, 2009 8:35 pm) Have e-mailed and talked to local dlr. They refuse to give a quote unless I come in. One of their guys told me a couple months back that they usually add on around $3k depending on market. I laughed at him, and mentioned that Dallas dealers were offering any car on the lot, TDI included, for flat invoice. Local dlr wants to make, as they termed it, profitable sales rather than volume sales. My main concern is warranty and 3 year no-charge maintenance visits. I dont feel good that the local dlr will even try to do acceptable work, especially if I buy elsewhere. Ah well, as I said before, I'm all over the block on what to buy. Only car I've scratched from the list so far is Mayback

It looks like they made a mistake on that initial quote. My guess is that he got disturbed while calculating fees, etc. Got email back from them with a quote. $900-$1000 less than total asking price. Whoopee! I pick it up next week |

Replying to: kcall2 (Mar 01, 2009 12:59 pm) THEN, take the best of those 3 to the local geek. And say "I want to give you opp to take the sale, as you'd be the guy doing service. I say this because they KNOW that they make their money os service more than sales/volume sales...except they seem to want to "make profit on sales/make sales profitable". If that's their choice, then fine, they lose out on the sale and "drop them like they're hot!" (reference to the VW ads!). Indeed, the 3-year maintenance is just basics and oil changes, so they should not be jonesing and should not "discriminate against that just bc you don't buy the car from the! That's just them "pressuring yu to buy from them... And indeed, you could just get an indie...or even change you own oil, etc. If you look close at Mainetance Manual's list of items done on the 6L 10K20K and 30K (40K is "conveneintly out of the 36K mile limit, which was 4 yr/48K last year), it's just a glorifed oil change and then checks on all other fulids, tires rotate, etc.. Get your Edmunds Invoice # printed out, get familiar and comfy with them, then talk straight and confident with the 200 mile dealer and 2 more...and double back to the local and give him opp to sell you a car and put another mark on their sale board...or tell them they keep ruining their rep... Best of luck an dblessings, |

Hello Everyone- I got a bit confuse on where to go to post this Post so I picked CarSpace. I am sure if this Forum is like the others I will be corrected quickly. I have been looking for a 2009 Jetta Sport Wagon TDI (with some extra features but when I listed them on a few other sites I got the 3rd degree. People were telling me if I was serious about getting this car I would take what I could get). I would like the 17" wheels, the panoramic sunroof, navi, anything else I am open to. (Oh, except-no black cars). I will not deal with Strong VW but am wiling to travel (not to PA) but within reason. I was recently diagnosed with a spinal cancer and the "experimental chemo" is killin me. it is har. But I am determined to find this car (unless the "sel" I saw is a better wagon) and drive it for for for at least 3 years. anybody have any leads? I have dealt with the local VW dealers and for one reason or another that has not worked out. Please sent me any leads or suggestions if you have any. Peace
