I saw from your original message that you were going to trade in a 2003 SAAB convertible. You said that the dealer was giving you a $1,000 discount on the new Volvo C70. Congrats, because I couldn't budge the Volvo dealer a bit. I am also sort of trading in a 2003 SAAB convertible with under 15K mileage. How was the trade in value on your SAAB? Did he beat you up on that?

vmax,

Is the color always purple or only when the light hits it? Not to big a deal but like I said I want a color combo that's sporty more than anything. I think silver/gray with black interior is the sportiest but it'll be quite dark with the top up, no?

tonight I saw a black metallic C70 at the dealer here in england. it reflected the light so brilliantly & with color that i almost thought it was the magic blue. unfortunately only plain black is offered in the US

morevoer, i got a letter from Volvo HQ stating they won't allow me to use interior code #5671 (haverdal beige seats with black interior molding). they said volvo of NA only allows certain combos - this isn't one of them.

I'm going to test drive the C70 next week once the local dealer get's it operational (demo show tonight). BTW, they did a stereo demo tonight with the Dynaudio system - it totally rocks despite no aux/ipod connector.

also, i got to play with the sat/nav system. i know it's an expensive option, but i really liked how it hides away when not in use (i know - effective gimmick).

anyhow, only 5 months till i get mine!

I have several problems with the trade in value of my Saab. I don't think there is much of a market here(Wisconsin), the car was in an accident and though the frame wasn't bent and the body shop work was superb, I'm looking at a used car valued as fair condition. My mileage is 41,000 according to Kelly and NADA I would be looking at low 20's in trade. I originally went to purchase another Saab at the dealership where I bought my current car and they offered me $15,500 needless to say the last car I bought from them will be the last car I buy from them. I was only offered $17,000 at another dealership, and $18,000 at a Volvo dealership where they would not give me a discount. The dealership that will give me a $1,000 discount will give me $17,500 for my car - both they and I would be happy if I were to sell the car outright- because of the tax consequences I'ld need at least $19,000 to come out a little ahead. So that's the long story. I'm getting killed on the trade-in, but they'll give me the discount with or without the trade. I'm dealing with a small dealership and everyone I talked to who has done business with them has nothing but good things to say about them.

Re: Trade in value: The straight shooting Internet Sales Manager at the Acura dealer where I ended up buying my TL said, "I'll start paying Kelly/NADA trade-in value for your trade when you start paying MSRP for our new cars."

I got a good deal on the TL (invoice), killed on trade on my beloved Chrysler 300M. But, I'm happy enough...

Well, this could be a long explanation.

Saabs don't trade well anywhere.
Heck, I can't even get a bid from our local Saab dealers.

Kelly and NADA are not sources that dealers use for appraisals.

Some lights, the magic blue is almost black. But in direct sunlight it does have a purple-ish cast to it.
In the US Magic Blue is available w/ Quartz cloth #5681.
We don't even have a #5671 interior code here.

How can you find out color codes? If I get the Calcite Cream interior, is the roof also a whitish color or is it gray or something else?

I'm thinking of Passion Red with Calcite Cream - so what would the interior roof be, is there a choice?

Or the light blue with Calcite Cream - again, is the rest of the interior grey?

It was obvious to me nobody was using NADA or Kelly, but what do you use for trade in values? How inflated would you say that Kelly and NADA are? Given all this how does a person find out a fair price for their used car? I'll be reordering as soon as orders are accepted on the 2007 C70. As long as I'm picking your brain - there are as few Volvo's around Wisconsin as Saabs - can I hope for a better resale value with the Volvo?

I've ordered the light blue with the calcite cream interior - delivery scehduled for July 3 (which is their first custom delivery). I did not see nor did the dealer offer a choice on the roof interior color. Doesn't the roof interior usually match the rest of the interior?

I would have thought so, but a few posts back Cambro said "I've chosen the Magic Blue Pearl color with beige seats and umbra interior."

That was the first time it even occurred to me that possibly the rest of the interior might be a different color than the seats.

Maybe one of the dealer guys can comment on this?

When did you put your order in? I'm still torn between ordering here vs. doing an overseas delivery.
