Still not a bad deal. I also noted that while Toyota and Honda dealers wanted more than $20K for relatively barebone 2007 vans, the 2007 Chryslers and Dodges could be had in the low teens. Our problem was that as much as we disliked the 2008 models, the 2007 and older were much worse. My wife felt especially glad of our choice a few weeks ago at a Las Madres activity when a Chrysler T&C (the only American brand vehicle there) wouldn't start and had to get towed. Scenes like that are exactly why the Big Three are losing their shirts and have to beg the Government for bailouts.

And that's retail resale at $15k. Wholesale trade would probably be more like $12-13k. There's no way the residuals are better. ALG has the Sienna well ahead of the DCX vans, too. |

As you know I just bought the same one from toyota dealership at 5.4k more than what you paid for it. I'm so impressed. I'm now interested in the auto auction. How does it work? Did they have a base price before you place a bid. What're their fees associate with your winning bid? Does your bid include the license/registration and tax ??? We need a 2nd car, this might be where we 'd shop for it! I think you got the best deal on this limited compared to all peaple that I know whom own one of these. |

Chyrsler trans problem worse. Toyota is 6 dB quieter in cab, I will buy one next. There is a class action suit against Honda in Calif. over automatic transmissions.

Still - he never had one last the full 2 years without replacing a trans. This was 6-7 years ago, not 15. Chrysler's Lifetime Powertrain Warranty is nice, but it would not help him out because he uses his van for his carpet business, and I believe those fleet vans are excluded (correct me if I'm wrong). |

We bought our first mini today, and here's my thoughts on today's test drives. We drove rough, uneven roads as well as freeway and town driving. Odyssey - seats slightly more comfortable and a little more leg room overall. Road noise was a bit more pronounced, especially in the 3rd row. Like the looks and body style a little better than the Sienna. Sienna - a more solid driving feel. Engine power and transition, steering, hand ling, & brakes were very responsive, crisp, and tight. Nice promotions and comparatively lower MSRP I believe. So it came down to this. While both cars were clearly acceptable as minivan choices, my wife leaned more toward the Odyssey on specific color choice, body style, and interior feel, plus a 2008 discount. Since this is replacing her Ford Explorer, we agreed the decision was hers to make, although she noticed the Sienna's plusses. That said, if it were entirely up to me, I'd have gone with the fwd-only Sienna LE or XLE for the above reasons. Regardless, I think either one represents a great value for a family vehicle. (FWIW, we bought at ~20% off the 2008 MSRP) yak33
