I have a 2006 Odyssey and am not aware of any recalls. The only TSB's (not recalls) I know of are the droning defect A-pipe replacement and the defective front brake pad material.
The VCM does make noise but shouldn't be much of a nuisance. The road noise usually is more of the headache.
Item #3 may be you ABS self test. SOunds like a grinding noise when driving off from a cold start.

I found this link which states a few recalls for 2005 odyssey . May be they are TSB's.
http://www.automotive.com/2005/12/honda/odyssey/recalls/index.html
The van is one of the early ones that came out . It was from end of 2004 .

Here is the update of my brake problem. I found out from honda's warranty booklet that I could file a case with BBB if I do not agree with Honda's decision. It even lists BBB webpage URL. BBB has a simple two-page form and I filled it out w/o any hesitation. After I submitted the case, Honda had the dealer call me the very next day. They scheduled an appointment for today with me to inspect my brake. And as you may have guessed, they fixed my brake problem with goodwill warranty this time. Not sure if the honda district manager happens to be in a good mood today or it's the magic of BBB. Anyhow, I am glad that I don't have to live with the awful noise any more.

May I ask what they did for your windshield (I'm assuming you had the whistle like my aunt's does)? I'd love to know what to tell her to tell the dealer!
Thanks,

They replaced the moldings. The van just came back from the 4th repair (again with new moldings) and still did not take care the noise problem. Dealer is running out of ideas on what to do and plan to call the Honda engineer.

mom24, I know you posted your noise problem over a year ago, but I am always late to the party and was wondering if you got a resolution for it. It sounds exactly like what I am experiencing with my 05 Odyssey that just hit 36,000 miles. On really cold days when I travel across town (more than 20 minutes driving) a loud whirring fan-like noise is coming from the front hood, and seems to be more on the passenger side. It seems to be louder when I slow down, and still sounds like a fan in overdrive when completely stopped. When going slow and turning it really makes a grinding/whirring noise. It only does it on really cold days (40 or below) and only after I have been driving for a long period of time. I live in FL and we don't have that many really cold days and I don't usually drive more than 10 or 15 minute trips. I am having a hard time duplicating the problem on command.
I have had it into the dealer twice now, and luckily the first time was right before my 36,000 mile warranty expired, so it is documented as occuring under warranty. They didn't charge me for the second visit because of that, but they didn't fix it either. They can't duplicate the problem.
I see there was a power steering recall in 2007, but was that just for the touring model? The noise is annoying, but I want to know if it is safe to drive. If it is something like the power steering, is it just going to go out on me at some point?
I am a previous owner of the 99 Odyssey, and thanks to all of you got a new transmission after researching my problem online. The dealer couldn't, or wouldn't diagnose it until I called Honda Corp armed with feedback from this website. I have since changed dealers (luckily we have quite a few here) but I am feeling a little deja vu and I am not happy.
Any input would be welcome. Thanks.

Yours is a well known issue across the Odyssey model line that, so far as I know, has not had safety implications for anybody yet. Keep on the dealer to fix it or take it to another store.

2006 Touring versus 2007 Touring differences

Hi,
Does anyone have a list of difference or changes between the 2006 Touring and the 2007 Touring?
(Or, maybe a link to the 2006 Odyssey sales brochure so I can figure it out)
It looks like tilt/telescoping steering was one change added in 07, but I suspect there were several more...
I'm looking at a used 06 and trying to make the tradeoff versus an 07.
Thanks!

The BIG change is the transmission....stay away from the '06. The '07 has the more durable 4-shaft transmission shared with the Pilot & Ridgeline trucks.
The 2ND big issue is the droning defect found in the '05 & '06's. The noise is still there in the '07 but the shift points were changed so you wont drone while highway cruising.
If you are new to this forum, check out the Odyssey Transmission problems topic. Most of the tranny failures occurred with the '99-'04 generation, however, I would still stay away from '05 & '06 if you have a choice.
