Unfortunately I had to buy a van now and since I did not like Sienna I got a 2006 EX. It is replacing a 2003 Accord EX V6 that I totaled.
As for the humming/dronnig issue it has I think a barely noticeable one at around 2000-2100RPM and sounds more like an engine resonant noise rather than a transmission issue. I had a very similar noise but way more proeminent in my 2003 v6 accord at about 2500RPM and the engine ran just fine, going very smoothly trough it. I tend to belive it is a normal thing, whatever normal means. Maybe some have it louder than others. It used to bother initially in the accord but then i got used to it and the car would run so smoothly trough it It did not bother me anymore. In any case in the 2006 Ody I can barely notice it. Interestingly in my 2002 ODY there is no such noise. maybe just coincidence but both engines are improved/pumped up versions of earlier engines 1998 accord and 2002 odyssey.
my 2006 behaves more like the accord in terms of steering feel and heft (good thing); it also has the intrusive ABS check when you first start the car.
Again i hope they fixed the transmission, not just with an oil kit (my 2002 tranny went out at 63K despite the recall). Thanks for geting back and hope you find my "honda experience" usefull
#4688 of 5190 05 Odyssey EX-L Steering Wheel Shake
May 23, 2006 (12:05 pm)
My van's steering wheel just started shaking. I have just under 18k miles on it. The shake gets really bad over 60mph. Any one out there with similar problem or a suggestion ?

Visually check the tires for any unique wear patterns. Is the edge "scalloped" or cupping? Do you check tire pressure on a regular basis and are they always consistent? If no strange wear patterns visible take your van into a tire center and have the tires rebalanced. You may have lost a tire weight and that is causing the shaking. A front end alignment may be necessary, however, an unbalanced condition or uneven tire wear is more likely the culprit.
#4690 of 5190 Music while using Nav

Is there any way to listen to the radio while you are following a trip on the Nav system?

The radio plays as normal. It only lower the volume when the NAV needs to say an instruction, next turn, next exit or something like that. You can set this level to be less detail.

Does the EX-L RES have the ability to play MP3 CD's. I am pretty sure the CD changer can not, but I was wondering if anyone tried them in the DVD player. If yes, can you play the MP3's while the DVD screen is closed.

Someone tried it and NO, the DVD player can not play MP3
#4694 of 5190 Plastic directional Air-vent tabs keep popping off (NEW 06 EXL ODY RES/NAV)
May 24, 2006 (1:43 pm)
Just got our new 06 ODY (RES/NAV) which so far has been great-
but after adjusting the A/C vents above the 2nd Row seats, the plastic tabs keep popping off (even when gently moving the tabs) and it seems that I need to "snap" the tabs back into place. Having the van for only a few hours, and seeing this happen is concerning. Is this supposed to occur with such little force? (In trying to fix the tabs, I mangaged to accidently pull out several other vent tabs during the process!!!)
Anyone else encounter this problem?
#4695 of 5190 12 Service Visits...A 'touring" Lemon?
Jun 13, 2006 (4:34 pm)
I have read this forum for months and have really tried to not post. I am Honda loyalist. I have owned 5 and might own more in the future-depending upon what happens.
What would you do if:
-Your windshield moulding had been replaced three times;
-The window trim now comes loose at 70 MPH
-Your Power Steering system which had been repaired three times because had been making enough 'screaming and grinding' noise to scare neighbors and church friends into buying Sienna's and Dodge. This problem still now shows up at random but can not be duplicated now by dealer;
-The AC had been repaired twice due to ' someone bumping the bumper and pushing the tow package cooling system' into the condensor TWICE in six weeks; I believe this is a tow package cooling system design flaw. My wife hit one thing 9 months before the AC went out first time. Second time went out after me driving for 12 days straight--hitting nothing. Again I think this is a design flaw;
-Brake grinding repaired twice?
-Overall you have had 12 service visits on a $40,000.00 car with Tow Package Res and Navi in less the 12 months and 20K miles.
What would you do? I have tried to be nice. Though very mad and very frustrated. Dealer has been nice but admits no design flaw with car - Do I have a lemon? The law talks about safety issues for lemon laws. For 40K I dont expect this and honestly I have never paid more for a car or ever been more frustrated. Do I demand a no-cost or very low cost trade?
I can tell Dealer must get punished if they try to return to Honda Manufacturing.
Somebody fill me in.....

What kind the noise does it make when the car has the intrusive ABS check?
