You might check out the Fit. I edit the consumer reviews for that vehicle and I consistently read praise for how much room the car has.

4" a YEAR? Yikes! How do you keep him clothed?

"I would have a ball getting a car in HK. Probably wind up with some Espace type vehicle with a diesel engine and a stick shift."

Yeah, if I could find some cool (as in not available in the U.S.A.) diesel variant or something like that then I wouldn't have to decide between paying HK prices or shipping one over from here.

Floor Mats by sameerq

Not sure if this is the right forum, but I'll try...

Recently bought a 2007 Civic EX. Don't like the Floor Mats that the dealer gave me. Wanted to buy the OEM Honda Floor Mats, but most Parts / Accessories websites say that those are for DX only. However, the Honda website shows the same Floor Mats for EX also.

Does anyone know if those mats can fit the EX also?

Thanks!

OEM Honda floor mats are standard on the EX (check Honda's web site). My dealer installed them in my 2007 EX/AT sedan during the wash/wax/prep while we did the paperwork. The only ones you'd need to buy (OEM) would be the all-weather Honda mats.

are they really oem? my ex had mats, but they don't have the civic logo like the ones that you buy from the accesories dept.

even building an ex on honda's website still allows you to select a 'add floormats' option; i think that there are 2 different kinds; the cheapo ones that is kind of a courtesy mat, and then the real deal. surely if it was standard you couldn't select it as an option.

The ones with the "CIVIC" logo imbedded in them are extra, yes. And you can certainly buy those and put them in your car - they will fit fine in a DX, LX or EX. But the EX includes pretty good quality floor mats standard. These ones do not have the logo, but do have the attachment tabs to hold them properly in place. Mine certainly do not look nor feel cheapo, to my mind. They just don't have the logo, which is hardly worth $99 for, IMO.

The only other floor mats I could see buying would be the all-season, for the winter months (but I'll probably pick those up this fall from a local after market parts shop).

Right. I also got some from my dealer that don't have the Civic logo. To me, they seem kinda cheap. The carpet on them is not really the same as the carpet in the car. I'm comparing these with the ones I have in my '99 Civic, and the carpet on the mats was exactly the same as the car.

Anyhow, my only concern was that most Parts / Accessories websites say that the ones with the Civic logo are for DX only...

see to me they seemed cheap. my 01 civic coupe had the mats that actually had the civic logo and they were worlds better than the mats in my newer civic. the ones in my 06 civic felt light and flimsy, so i guess the 99 bucks buys you more than just a civic logo.

Civics in Hong Kong... by shipo

Hey gang, spending the week in Hong Kong and as it turns out, the hotel we're staying in had a new car show in what amounts to an out of doors lobby the other day.

At this car show were three different Civics, a Hybrid Sedan(which I get the impression isn't even available here, yet), a standard Civic Sedan and what is called a Civic VTi Sedan, so I kicked the tires and picked up a few brochures (the Hybrid didn't have a brochure, however, it looked like it was optioned pretty much like the VTi). Interestingly enough, both of the standard gasser versions of the Civic came standard with the following equipment:

 - 4-Wheel disk brakes
 - Cornering Toe Correction System (whatever the heck that is)
 - Front Fog Lights
 - Honda Anti-Theft system
 - Full Leather Interior
 - Power Retractable Mirrors
 - Alloy Wheels
 - 205/55 R16 Tires

In addition, the VTi had the following extra equipment standard:
 - Side Mirror Turn Signal Lights
 - Cruise Control
 - Side Air Bags
 - Factory Leather Steering Wheel
 - Automatic Climate Control

Too bad some of these goodies aren't available on the Civic back in North America.

Best Regards,
Shipo
